Vote on which date would work best for you for our New York Gameday and then we'll choose a date so people can start planning.

I am tentative but interested. This really should be a LI Gameday as Eastern folk could get to this but won't look as it says NY and that clearly means NYC. NYC people always get whiny off of the SUbway.

There is actually a whole state attached to the city of New York, so I don't take NY to mean NYC But it is noted and perhaps when I make the next thread I'll change the title. What do you mean by Eastern folk?

I've met a lot of people who think (and they are actually correct on this) that Brooklyn and Queens is a part of "Long Island." Some people have a hard time understanding that there is a large portion of the island east of Nassau county. Some people forget about the North and South forks of Long Island.

Generally I would consider Riverhead "eastern fork" myself, and beyond the canal on the south fork as "far eastern" because they rarely go far west past the canal. Likewise on the north fork I would suggest Greenport as the "far east."

I'm from Riverhead myself.

Wow, and here I was thinking that it didn't get any more complicated than North or South Fork, myself. But then, I'm from subway-land.

Hhmmm.... all this complicated geography! I guess since I say "The City" or "Out East" (to me that's Riverhead and beyond, I Love the North Fork) and expect everyone I meet to know what I'm talking about I shouldn't talk!

I just wasn't sure if there was any interest in NY at all as except for Albany (which isn't *all* that far) I didn't recall a gameday. So wanted to keep it open for all who don't know the area that well.

I will label the next thread Long Island game day to be more specific

Anyone else want to add their vote? We're leaning towards the 28th and 29th, unless suddenly a large group of people vote otherwise...

It's not likely to matter to anyone else here, but the "Ohio Valley Filk Festival" is the October 20th - 22rd this year (hoping to go there this year)

My slight preference is the 22nd-23rd, because my birthday is on Halloween, and I will likely be out of town on the weekend before then. I'll be back in Madison, WI getting smashed.
