Ethereal Blinking?

Can a character who is ethereal use a ring of blinking? If so when he blinks is he material or ethereal?

More to the point, if a PC wearing activated Armor of Etherealness uses a Ring of Blink, when the ring is deactivated, will the PC still be ethereal, or material? i.e. does performing an action which makes you material - as Blink does, intermittently - deactivate the Armor of Etherealness's effect?

I'd say that an ethereal creature who blinks does blink to the material plane. They should blink back to the ethereal plane, just as they would return to the material under any other situation.

So anyone else? I was really hoping for a more enthusiastic reply, as I am going to have to make a ruling on this for our game.

It's based on the spell, which states "You “blink” back and forth between the Material Plane and the Ethereal Plane."

So while the spell is in effect, you are alternately on either the Material Plane or the Ethereal Plane.

Once the spell expires, you're back where you started - in this case, the Ethereal Plane.
