the Jester
Legend
I've been thinking for some time about one-level 'flavor' classes to give a little cultural flavor to characters. After seeing the racial paragons in UA I thought it might be neat to make these 'flavor' classes into 'cultural paragon' classes. This is my first draft... what do you think? Do these stack up against a standard base class well? Too well? Their benefits are pretty good, but they're very specific.
Also, I'm concerned- are there any prestige classes that these would make entry into too easy? They add a class skill to the character, so I'd like to get what feedback I can from folks on that issue as well.
Anyway, here are my first two cultural prestige classes (draft 1):
CULTURAL PARAGON CLASSES: These are similar to racial paragon classes, but only have one level. A character can only have one cultural paragon class. A character may have both racial and cultural paragon levels.
Forinthian Paragon
Forinthians, as a rule, are orderly and godly-minded. The Forinthian paragon is one whose cultural upbringing has instilled these views in him.
Hit Dice: d8
Class Skills: Concentration (con), Craft (int), Heal (wis), Intimidate (cha), Knowledge (religion) (int), Profession (wis), Ride (dex), Sense Motive (wis). Skill points per level: 2 + int bonus.
Base Attack: +0
Saves: Fort +2, Ref +0, Will +2
Forinthian Culture (Ex): Knowledge (religion) is always a class skill and cleric is considered an additional favored class for the paragon. He may continue taking paladin levels even if he takes levels in other classes after taking his first paladin level.
Peshan Paragon
Peshans are known to be masters of the mercantile arts. They have a reputation for being smooth-talking swindlers or wealthy merchants. Pesh is also notoriously loose-moraled.
Hit Dice: d6.
Class Skills: Appraise (int), Bluff (cha), Craft (int), Diplomacy (cha), Escape Artist (dex), Forgery (int), Gather Information (cha), Knowledge (local) (int), Open Lock (dex), Profession (wis), Search (int), Sleight of Hand (dex), Speak Language. Skill points: x + int bonus (x4 at first level).
Base Attack: +0
Saves: Fort +0, Ref +2, Will +0
Peshan Culture: Diplomacy is always considered to be a class skill for a Peshan paragon. Rogue is an additional favored class for the paragon. Whenever the paragon sells an item, she can obtain an extra 10% of its value.
Whaddaya think?
