Special Edition PHB Owners: Speak Up!

Okay, so in this thread I asked you guys what I should get with $30. Well, I managed to get my holiday check from my grandfather yesterday and it was a whopper. Added to the $30 I had left over from before I had enough money to buy the Special edition PHB. I saw it at my FLGS and was torn between it and several other books.

I spoke with one of the store represenatives and they sold me on it. Man, I have to say it, the leather cover is beatiful. If I was ever to be proud of any purchase I ever made, it would be this one. The only drawback was that I had to sift through the book page by page, separating the pages that stuck together. It took nearly 40 minutes. It was worth it.

I love this book. I have owned it for 2.5 days, and I continue to look at it at least once in every 6 hours. I love it. It is beatiful and breathtaking. Quite easily the most precious DnD book I own. Truly from my heart I can that I love the game deraly and no matter what the fututre holds, I will always treasure it.

If anyone else owns it (and I'm sure there are plenty that do) speak up. Tell the rest of us enworlers why you bought the book and how you feel about it.

I caved.

I could have waited for Standard Edition PHB Second Printing some time in 2005, but I like the red cloth bookmark. It would have been if it had come in a pair or triplet.

Another attractive option, that's a little cheaper, for a D&D 'collecter's item', is the 30 Years of D&D coffeetable book. That's something that will actually provide you something not already in your standard D&D PHB

i bought it to complete my collection. along with the 30th anniversary propaganda/rewrite of history book.

i buy all the books i can. most are gathering dust on a shelf.

i've used it some already in the playtesting i've done with the newer editions. read the story hour in my sig. the last two pages or so.

it is nice. but ain't worth the retail price.
