Campaign Ended by... Bad Dice Rolls.

Well Eberron has come...and gone. After trying 3 times to get a campaign going it has ended. It had nothing to do with character conflicts, DM conflicts, class or group combos, it crashed and burned to bad dice.

I know I say that I roll REALLY bad but now there is proof. The other 3 players hppened to roll as poorly as me for MONTHS on end. And not just Eberron, its every game we play. We can't make simple DC 10 skill checks at level 1 or 3. I am not kidding. We had a DC 7!! climb check to hold onto the side of a lightning rail, youi guessed it only 1 of 4 made it. The wizard almost made it but rolled a 2. Failed by 5, fell off.

By the way, we have all bought new dice during the middle of the game. No luck.

We agian are starting a new game in a week. I'm just hoping we have a boat load of good roll karma built up.

Go to your game shop. Take your dice wth you. Look at a copy of "Hackmaster" Player's guide, I believe. In the back, use the rituals to cleanse your dice. Tell your friends to repeat. Game on.

Take 10. And talk your DM into giving you extra action points. I have to say that if it weren't for action points, my PCs would have a major death list if not at least one TPK by now. Though, admittedly, that has nothing to do with dice rolls and everything to do with me being a rat-bastard :]

Make sure not one except you uses your dice. ;) You might also try to use a computer-based dice roller. Random numbers generated by computers are 'really' random.

I didn't like the way falling rules worked too well, so I added a small additional level of danger - a Fortitude or die save based on the distance fallen. So far since establishing the rule, quite a few checks have been made. Most were at higher levels, so they were passed easily - even when large distances were involved.

We recently started a new campaign, at level 1. Needless to say, we've just lost our first character - a party NPC - to the new falling rules. She fell 10 feet.

The save? DC 2.

She rolled a 1 - and had no bonus to Fortitude. :D

Yep, the save is 2 DC per 10 feet fallen. We all decided that it was fate talking - who fails a DC 2? She musta landed square on her noggin.

I don't know why but that is making me literally laugh out loud.

*CRUNCH* - oooo that can't be good.

Have you as a group tried dice cups? It may sound silly, but the way some of you are rolling dice could be affecting others subconsciously. Anything to break up the standard pattern can help.

Well, make sure that they are getting all of their bonuses down.

For example, stat bonuses.

For example, synergy bonuses. That +2 helps out a lot in many cases.

Buy masterwork equipment when possible. Nothing like masterwork lock picks to help you out or masterwork rope that's easy to use.

You wouldn't happen to be a table full of "dice droppers", are you? You know, instead of shaking up the dice a bit, they just turn their hand over and let the dice fall out?

Pet peeve of mine. But, it does seem to make for some poor rolls.

Nope all dice rollers, no droppers here. The die slows down to like a 16 then slowly rolls once more to a 4.
