Avadnu Primer?

Soel

First Post
Might anyone have any details as to when the Avadnu Primer will be out for purchase?

I recently bought the Denizens book and really love it! The world seems to have a sort of Planescapish/Dark Sun feel, very different from the norm post-Tolkien d&d worlds out there.

Any feedback (JVisgatis, or others,) is appreciated!

Avadnu Primer release

Hi,
According to icirclegames.cim, its due out in the second quarter of 2005, but not as a book, It will be released in sectionsas a pdf on RPGNOW, as I understand it.

I can't say much (I'm just a lowly freelancer) other than to say that the Primer has not been forgotten, and will see the light of day sooner or later. It's just a matter of finding a publishing plan that suits the company's needs and waiting for the time to be right.

In the meantime, we've got a new e-book coming out sometime in the next month. Not a Violet Dawn product, but fun stuff nonetheless. If you haven't already seen it, there's also the Primer introduction available on the Violet Dawn website. Head over and click on the "Features" link.

If Jeffrey Visgaitis doesn't pop into this thread with a little more info on the Primer, I'll make sure he's pointed this way. Hey, Jeff--any way you could attach a little art preview for the good people?

We're pushing for second quarter release of this year. Its mostly done except for a small bit of the writing and editing. The bulk of the work that needs to be done is the artwork. We're going to release it in what I call an enhanced PDF format. More on that in the coming weeks. To tide you over, here's some sneak peeks on some of the artwork we have lined up. This is the book we've longed to do and I want to make sure that everything is perfect. Ask our Editor, he'll tell you I'm way too picky and a royal pain with this project. :)

Thanx for the responses, and especially, the art preview! Its gonna be hard to wait!

I must say, that I would rather have an actual book, but if this is the only scheduled release method, then I will buy it! The "enhanced" pdf also intrigues me...Keep us posted!

Believe me, we would much rather do a book. At this point we just need to proceed cautiously as the industry is kinda on a downturn and we want to stay in this business. There does seem to be a lot of demand for this book which is great, so if the PDF does reasonably well, we will most definitely go to print.

If Jeff does decide to print it, it should be available at Indie Press Revolution with FREE Priority Mail shipping.

We now have Denizens of Avadnu at 20% off. The publication standards of this book rivals anything by WoTC (lots of great color, expert layout and editing, nicely bound, etc.) It's a real keeper.

Jeff, there is always the option of POD, though the profit margins on that are much lower and I usually encourage small print runs instead.

I'd want to keep the book as full color, but we will consider doing POD B&W when its all complete depending on the quality we can get. I tried getting quotes on full color, but prices were in the $50 per book region!!!

Those art previews look gorgeous! I'm really curious about the world behind it :). Just do whatever doesn't ruin you financially. Even Monte Cook had to wait some time until he was able to put out AU/AE in colour.

Agreed. It easily meets or exceeds the best publishing qualities the industry has to offer.

A seriously top-notch book I wish more people were aware of.
