Ah! Tarrasque!

Jdvn1

Hanging in there. Better than the alternative.
Scary, huh? My party (small party, at the time had Wiz and Drd), was hired to clear out a mine when the miners encountered some monsters popping up (we had impressed some people by taking down a Balor by ourselves in a gladiatorial arena). We had a Clr and Ftr go with us for some extra beef, so the make-up is this:
Drd 19 (focus on fighting w/ Warshaper, Nature's Warrior)
Wiz 18 (Elemental Savant [Elec], Archmage, I7FV)
Frt 15 (nothing special, B.Sword and shield)
Clr 15 (important feats: Spell Penetration & Greater, Reach Spell, Divine Metamagic [Reach Spell])

So we're clearing out this dung-- uh, mine, when we open the last room. There's a glint of gold at the end. Before the glint of gold is a big creature. I roll K(Nature)... Tarrasque. Great. Whoopee. We're dead. Nono, wait, it's sleeping. ... And we still can't take it, we're not nearly prepared for this sort of battle (I wanted a Silence cast so we could take the gold and coup de grace, but whatever). We end up leaving so we can actually prepare for this thing.

Well, we're doing research on Tarrasques (101 Fun Facts About Tarrasques by Mordenkainen Smith), and we're talking people to get information. Well, one of the people we ask is the guy in charge of the nation we happen to be visiting. Who is a fan of games. CN sort of guy, tending towards E. He gets crazy ideas to 'test' people. So, when he hears there's a Tarrasque sleeping in his land, he's goes, "Great! Cool! I'm going to let it rampage and it'll be a game to see who can take it down!"

... :uhoh: Yeah. Nut job. So we have to kill this thing now. Problem is this is a relatively low magic game. Magic items are tough to come by. I can't even get a +6 Wis item as a Drd 19. But, we can use any book we want. Scrolls are hard to come by (the GM really doesn't want to let us have a scroll of Wish but I think he'll end up giving one to us anyway since it's impossible otherwise), but I'm exploring my options.

The current plan is this: Buff. Cast Silence, coup de grace, hope for a 1. It'll pass its save, I'm sure. My buffs include a spell from Frostburn to give me DR 15/- (and Fire vulnerability, but I don't care about that this battle). Wizard casts a spell from Draconomicon... what is it called... Weaken Scales or something. Reduce Big T's nat armor by 10 (no save, assisted by Assay Resistance). Cleric (who has 14 turn attempts) throws Reach Heals and Harms whenever appropriate (hey, it'll do 75 damage minimum per round, double that if he fails his save). Due to my PrCs and Haste, I can dish out probably around 80+ damage per round, probably more, and the Sense Weakness feat from Draconomicon helps me get past his DR.

I figure we still have around a 50/50 shot to actually take Mr. T down. Any thoughts? Other ideas?

kill the guy who wants to wake it, let it sleep. :D
 Oh, that's gone through my head. But killing a major leader? First off, not sure if I can do it. He's probably an Epic Wizard himself, how this game's going. He didn't get voted into power, he conquered the land. He might be able to take the Tarrasque himself, but that wouldn't be in the spirit of the game.

There won't BE a save. Its regeneration means it will just be a crit that wakes it up that leads to you eating a full attack.

REGENERATION

Creatures with this extraordinary ability recover from wounds quickly and can even regrow or reattach severed body parts. Damage dealt to the creature is treated as nonlethal damage, and the creature automatically cures itself of nonlethal damage at a fixed rate.

Certain attack forms, typically fire and acid, deal damage to the creature normally; that sort of damage doesn’t convert to nonlethal damage and so doesn’t go away. The creature’s description includes the details.

Creatures with regeneration can regrow lost portions of their bodies and can reattach severed limbs or body parts. Severed parts die if they are not reattached.

Regeneration does not restore hit points lost from starvation, thirst, or suffocation.

Attack forms that don’t deal hit point damage ignore regeneration.

An attack that can cause instant death only threatens the creature with death if it is delivered by weapons that deal it lethal damage.

kill the leader

Forget the dragon lookin ****** ******! I'd rather have one of those things on my ass than a duke of hell, those guys have armies that even deities wont mess with, if given the chance. They'll just be overwhelmed, anyways, just run.
