This structure appears in almost every detail as an elegantly built wardrobe of dark brown wood. It is somewhat larger than most, and seems to remain dim and shadowy even in bright illumination. To imaginative individuals the intricate swirl of wood grains on its doors might almost appear as a scowling face.
The possessed wardrobe is product of a sadistic sorcerer whom poured his own cruelty and hunger for power into its making. It was created for the purpose of removing opponents and seeking vengeance. Often it was given as a gift and slowly but surely the family of the household would disapear mysteriously. To this day it continues to prey upon others whom come to live in the abandoned home within which it dwells. Occassionally it will be sold and its legacy continues.
Combat:
Though the wardrobe can be quick if need be it instead prefers to wait for its victims to approach and snatch them up. It displays an almost intelligent cunning, but is only echoing the vague emotions of its creator and possesses no actual mentality.
Fear Aura (Su): A possessed wardrome creates an aura of fear in a 10-foot radius at will. It is otherwise identical with fear from an 7th-level caster (save DC 15). The save DC is Charisma-based.
Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, the wardrome must hit with both its slam attacks. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and then 'swallows' its victim.
Panic Attack (Su): A victim within the Possessed Wardrobe must make a DC 15 fortitude check every minute or die from fear. Even if the Fortitude save is successful, the subject takes 3d6 points of damage. Those who die within are converted to shadows and the back of the wardrobe opens up a portal to the Plane of Shadow where the victim is automatically drawn. Any clothing upon the victim is hung, and shoes, if any, set side by side with any others. Other equipment is likewise neatly arranged.
Shadewake (Su): A possessed wardrobe that is destroyed reappears in another locale within 1d6 days of its destruction as it is regenerated within the Plane of Shadow. This can only be halted by a Limited Wish, Wish, Miracle, or any other soul-destroying spell or ability.
Swallow Whole (Ex): A possessed wardrobe can try to swallow a grabbed Medium or smaller opponent by making a successful grapple check. It then pulls its victim within and the doors slam shut. It can now use its Panic Attack. To escape the victim must make an opposed strength check or cut/bash its way out by using a light slashing or bludgeoning weapon to deal 20 points of damage to one of its sides (AC 18). Once the victim exits, its rapid healing closes the hole; another swallowed opponent must cut its own way out.
Every round within the wardrobe deals 1d4 Strength damage to a living creature. A creature reduced to Strength 0 by the wardrobe dies. This is a negative energy effect.
The wardrobe will only hold one victim at a time.
