Straight from the far realm, may I introduce...

I dunno why but this critter has been circling my thoughts for a week now and I kept putting it aside because it sounded a bit dumb. But to still this voice inside, here is this little bit off insanity.

A muusi in its standard form appears vaguely felinoid, though without mouth, tail and claws, and, covered in off-white, silken threads. Removed of the silk the skin is a dark golden brown covered in thousands of spinerettes like that of a spider and it has huge, billowy ears. It is from these organs the threads grow, covering it in coat of webs. It does not possess any visible eyes in any form, but seems perfectly capable of vision.

Muusi are parasites that infest the Far Realm but many have over the untold millenia come to infiltrate many of the planes. They form massive sacks of hundreds of eggs on high mountain peaks, or the tops of towers in a pinch, and then leave it, never to return.
They eat nigh anything living, merely having to be in direct contact with the substance to digest it.

Their thought processes are wholey alien and though many seem to vaguely understand speech it is not even certain they speak one amongst themselves. A typical muusi weighs around 300 lbs and stands around 4 foot at the shoulder in quadruped form, and around 6 and a half feet in humanoid form.

Combat:
A muusi attacks when hungry, which is often, to protect itself, or whenever it feels like it. Some will leap upon passerbys with horrible ferocity, while others won't even acknowledge their presence. When they do attack they usually begin with a charge and pounce, while at other times they prefer to knock their victims prone and take advantage of their condition.

Ballooning (Ex):
As a full round action a muusi can begin to unravel its webbings, which can extend for hundreds of feet. It will then be lifted into the air by the pull of wind on its threads. By releasing and sending out more threads it can poorly adjust its direction and effectively gains a flight speed of whatever velocity the wind is blowing with a maneuverability of poor. To land it simply releases its threads and forms a thick flap of skin between its limb so that it glides downwards and takes no damage from falls.

Blindsight (Ex):
A muusi's acute hearing give it the equivalent of blindsight, and if deafened is considered blind.

Gossamer Armor (Ex):
A muusi's web drapering absorbs blows with ease, and while it is covered it has immunity to piercing and damage reduction 10/law and slashing. The webbing can take up to 20 points of damage that the muusi would otherwise have taken itself before disentegrating. It takes a muusi a standard action to reweave this coat and until the next round is more more vulnerable. While vulnerable it takes a -6 penalty to its natural armor class and loses it damage reduction and piercing immunity.

Pounce (Ex): If a muusic charges a foe, it can make a full attack, including an additional 2 slam attacks.

Shapechange (Ex):
A muusi's form is highly maleable and it will often assume roughly the same shape as the living beings closest to it for whatever private reasons it has. It prefers creatures with at least four limbs though despite its form its speed nor any abilities are changed.

Tacky Secretion (Ex):
A muusi's skin produces a type of a sticky acid that it uses for climbing and digesting meals. Its mere touch disolves living material and does 1d6 damage in addition to each slam attack. Wooden weapons, being of dead wood, are not considered living material. This also gives it a +4 bonus to grapple check to get hold of its foe, but gains a -4 penalty to escape from grapples in turn. A foe that successfully grapples the muusi, or is in turn grappled itself, automatically takes the acid damage unless completely clothed and gloved.

Skills: Muusi have a +8 racial bonus on Climb and Jump checks and can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened.

+9 is a very high natural armor rating for a Medium creature. DR 10 is also high for a CR 5 creature. This creature is going to be nearly impossible for a level 5 party to damage.

Heh, so many of my critters end up being simultaneously too difficult as well as too easy ;)

But the point to this critter is that every few rounds, depending on the damage its coating takes, it'll become quite vulnerable. They'll just have to adopt a strategy besides 'I hit it with my sword!' ;)
