Expanded Oriental Adventures

While talking about the Forgotten Realms and books we'd like to see, I mentioned that I'd like to see an Expanded Oriental Adventurers that updated Kara Tur.

The way I see it, the old book was very good and while AEG was adding to the whole Rogukan bit, a live setting.

Well, AEG has moved back to their home system. I'm not saying people weren't ready for the dual statted books or that people weren't ready for a $25 96 b&w book. It just didn't work for whatever reason.

This gives WoTC the perfect opportunity to revise and expanded Oriental Adventurers, in a manner very similiar to their original Psionics Handbook.

1. Regional Feats.
2. Replace Rogukan with Kara-Turn
3. Update core classes.
4. Provide updated Martial Arts
5. Update monsters to 3.5 standards.
6. Provide campaign setting notes to use Kara-Tur in Eberron and Greyhawk.

Opinions?

I don't have Eberron, is there a place it would fit in there? Since Kara Tur is established as part of FR I would think notes for there would be more natural.

Great idea! I'd love to see this, especially if they included the stuff from the Mahasarpa web enhancement as well.

I'd also like to see them delve a little more into some of the other Eastern Cultures.

Long ago (1st ed), it was actually kind of for Greyhawk, even had a 'voyage' to the east to get there, as opposed to the land travel that FR uses.

And would it fit there? It 'could'. The notes I'm talking about probably wouldn't be as much for specific places and people, as opposed to say where X, Y, and Z would be appropriate in an already existing Eberron campaign.

That would be very cool and I would be first in line to get it! I hope they do an update for OA without all the Rokugan stuff someday. I would love to see an emphasis on other cultures and keep it from being so grounded on Japanese mythology and culture. It should deal primarily with Chinese culture and mythology, if it must center on any one culture, but I would hope it deals with Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Tibetan, Indian, Mongol, Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, and maybe even pacific island cultures along with others in that part of the world.

I would like it to incorporate all the mythical, oriental races in addition to showing how to use core races in an oriental setting. I would like to see more on new classes and have some racial paragon levels for the oriental races as well as having class replacement levels for the oriental races. I want to see notes on using psionics in an oriental setting. There is plenty of mythology out there to inspire more original material, so I want to see it utilized. It should be at least 256 pages too. I want my money worth out of it.

This would be pretty cool. Bring everything up to 3.5 standard and add lots of setting ideas...oh yeah, I'd buy it.

They did this awhile back in an issue of Dragon - updated all the races and the classes to 3.5 and also gave notes on converting feats and spells.

Would you happen to know which issue?
