Goodman Games to Publish Print Edition of Best-Selling PDF Book of Templates from Silverthorne Games

Chicago, IL – Goodman Games is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Silverthorne Games to publish a print edition of the best-selling PDF Book of Templates. Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition will be released in September as a 192-page hardback priced at $34.99. Expanded from the PDF version and completely updated to 3.5 rules, this iconic 3E creature toolkit will now be available in print for the first time.

"I’ve been a fan of the Book of Templates for years," said Joseph Goodman, President of Goodman Games. "It’s an invaluable addition to any DM’s toolkit. I’ve used the Book of Templates in my own home games, I’ve published other products that make use of its open game content, I’ve recommended it to everyone I game with – it’s just that useful. I’m very excited to have the chance to bring it to the print market for the first time."

"Silverthorne Games is very excited about the opportunity to finally bring Book of Templates to print," said Ian Johnston, President of Silverthorne Games. "It has been our top-selling PDF product for three years running and we’ve always felt that it needed to reach a larger audience – an audience we could only reach by going to print. We are most pleased to be working with Goodman Games to make a print version of this book a reality."

The Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition will feature the same innovative content that made the first PDF edition so popular. Filled with original templates for expanding and modifying any monster, the Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition makes your existing monster manuals new challenges all over again. In 2004, the PDF version of Book of Templates: Deluxe Edition was nominated for an ENnie in two categories: Best Revision/Update/Compilation and Best Electronic Product (not free).

The print edition will feature beautifully sculpted cover art depicting monstrous transitions, as well as flawless rules courtesy of editor John Cooper. It will be available in September from game retailers everywhere.

This is great news. Congratulations to Ian and the Silverthorne crew for being able to negotiate a deal to bring it to print. This is a book I've waited for a long time. :)

Awesome! It is my most favorite template book. But it should be interesting to see how they add more templates while reducing the page count from 260 to 192.

I really hope the how to stack templates and how to use templates sections are not going to be cut- they are the reason I find it better than Advanced Bestiary.

Looking very forward to this.

The Deluxe Book of Templates is still a number one resource for upgrading and augmenting your monsters as well as making new races and variants.

Good news for anyone interesting in the monster making process.

So if it releases in September, might there be copies at GenCon?

That's what I'm hoping, too! I've heard so many good things about this one, but never picked it up because I knew I wouldn't use it as a PDF.

Whether it comes out at GenCon or not, this is pretty sweet. :)

I can't speak for Joseph or anything, but it's my understanding that copies might be available by Gen Con. At least, we hope so! :)
