MAT bidding for Hasbro??

There is market talk this morning that Mattel (MAT) could make a bid for Hasbro (HAS.) Word is that any deal would likely be accretive. HAS is presently up $0.20.

Interesting. (This is my job/life, btw.) I hope the WotC assets are considered "Core." to any particular acquiring company!

I almost hope it's not. I like the way WotC handled D&D better when they were independent than when they were under Hasbro's umbrella.

The first thing that came to my mind is God please no! After thinking about it though, I would rather my daughter play with a ranger ken than a fairy prince ken.

The thing is, Mattel goes bankrupt every couple of years. What would that kind of economic turmoil do to WotC?

They'd be better than the options that's out there now in the Barbie line... It was interesting the Kirk and Spock dolls (even though I never bought them; not at $75(!) for the set!)

Funnier still would be the Barbie D&D Iconics line! :lol:

Although I'd find money to buy those!!

except the pink dragon that does sound like it has possibilities. I'm not sure I like the idea but they have made Barbies for everything else. Actually I think they may pass on the Sorceress. It could get the Fundementals a little testy.

Honestly, all it would do would be to get another "Hero Quest" clone back into Wal-Mart for a year or two before its on the clearance isle for cheap figs.
