How will O'Connor's retirement affect your campaign?

Justice Sandy "Miss Crit" O'Connor announced her planned retirement from the U.S. Big Court today. She's famous for some of her D&D decisions -- she was the deciding vote in Adventuring Party Inc. v. Orc, for example, a case that redefined the concept of pastry as "treasure" and clarified certain goblin racial rights.

How do you think her absence is going to affect your campaign? And what do we want in her successor?

That's the easy part. What I don't understand is her (past) relationship with D&D (or RPG) as related to her justice work. (And incidentally, why it should affect my campaign setting  )

It doesn't.

She isn't, and didn't.

It's all a joke. :)

I think it'll be interesting to see if Bush brings in a strict constructionist, to placate the rules lawyers, or he finds someone more fast and loose, who puts fun ahead of the rules, and thus has an easier time with confirmations.

And, as I've done for the past 30 years, her departure will be reflected in a magical battle in the supreme wizardly court, as challengers try to ascend to the vacant throne. But pretty much everyone does that in their campaigns. I don't have any new wrinkles to add.

Well, you could always resurrect some people who served already. At least hey will know the answer to the most important question in any single government building: where are the bathrooms? ;)
