Mutant Chronicles for D20?

I've recently unearthed my old Mutant Chronicles books and I realized what a perfect setting it is for D20 Mod / Future. Its dark and deadly blend of gothic fantasy & tech has really piqued my interest. Its magic system (The Art) was always a bit quirky, but it was definately full of flavor and you could almost feel the threat oozing from the Dark Legion.

Has anyone else played the game and / or done a D20 conversion of it?

I'm planning it. But you know I have the problem of the iconic DMs: Too many campaign ideas and no players to play in my campaigns. *shrugs*
Too bad I'm only DMing tabletop games.

This is something I have been experimenting with a little as well. The difficult this would be getting the CRs right. I want to get the latest Warzone Book to help out with it, but I haven't yet since I don't have anyone to play with. Now if you guys want to do some cooperative work on this I am game. It is a great world. Just let me know am I will pull out some of my original work.

I have an idea for a Doom 3-based RPG but d20 ain't the system to do this type of game with. What is you ask? Shadowrun.

d20 autofire rules are awful. Period.

Alternate Autofire rule for D20 Modern
Reflex DC = Full modified attack roll of the attacker.

If Joe Blow rolls a 15, and his ranged attack modifier is +12, he spends an action point for 4 more points, the Reflex DC to avoid is 31.

How about that?

Yeah I'm also using that. Except that if the character rolls at least 10 but less than 15 the DC is still 15.

I'll chime in from experience ... it's a pretty broken mechanic at that point. Everybody wants autofire weapons, everybody will use them. Which can be cool, I suppose, but you'll have to rearrange the balance of the game as armor and class defense become useless and Ref saves become the end all and be all.

Honestly, I've never seen d20 autofire rules that I've liked. If you want to do the dark future/bug/demon-hunting style game, you need a firearm system that's both brutal and realistic. d20 is neither.

The problem with realistic is it gets boring quickly if you get involved in firefights regularly in game, glassjaw. Who wants to play a game where a handgun hit will result in 83% chance of incapacitation, rendering the target hors-de-combat?

Ok, how about "models more realistically" than d20?

Heavy autofire rules are where d20 breaks down. Sure you can work something out with the mechanics but it just doesn't have the oomph to feel like you are sending a hail of lead at your opponent. The Shadowrun system was built to handle firearms first (which makes the SR melee rules a bit wonky), whereas the d20 system is much better for melee combat or single-shot ranged weapons.
