Guess What?! NC Game Day VIII is September 10th!

Rel

Liquid Awesome
Time to start pimping the next Game Day. I think we've just about got the routine down now but let me know if there are questions.

As we've done with the last several events, all registration will take place at the Official NC Game Day Website.

The following was originally posted by Morgenes and this is how you sign up to run a game...

To schedule a game, the following must happen in order:

1) You must register on this site, and request to be a GM. If you were a GM on a previous Game Day, you should still be a GM on future Game Days, so go to step 3.

2) An admin (Rel or Morgenes) approves you as a GM.

3) You submit your event (My Events -> Submit), filling out the required fields and submitting it.

4) An admin reviews and accepts the event, and assigns it to a table.

5) At this point pre-registration will be available for the event.

Note: The Game Type is important, as it determines how pre-registrations are handled. If you choose 'Reserved Game', noone can pre-register for the event. Most other event types are ok, in general 'Walk-in Game' should be chosen unless another one clearly applies.

There are two main slots for role-playing games this game day. Either morning or afternoon. Morning runs from 9-2pm. There will be an hour lunch break till 3pm, then the afternoon session runs from 3pm - 8pm.

So when you submit your event, choose a start time of either 9am or 3pm, depending on what slot you want to run in.

The additional notes field is so you can tell the administrators about any special needs you might have, like a certain size or shape of table, or power needs.

If you have previously registered at the NC Game Day site then you don't have to do that part. If you've previously run a game at NC Game Day then you don't need to register as a GM. All you have to do at that point is submit your game and have it approved and slotted.

Boom!

Me first...

OK - here are my 2 ideas:

Black Eyes of the Demon Scorpion - Redux (3E Grim Tales/BCCS Hybrid - 9th LVL PCs): Getting the Jewels of Power was the easy part. Keeping them and making it back to Emor might be a bit tougher. The Sythian Fire Witches have raised the desert against our stalwart band and the battered remnants of the elite Imperial Legion. Can they win free before the merciless Demon's Anvil swallows their bones?

Get ready for Xenophon meets Napolean's Retreat from Russia with a sprinkling of the Bataan Death March ;)!

OR

Beginnings: The Senator's Wayward Daughter (3E Grim Tales/BCCS Hybrid - 5th Level PCs): Harken back to the early days of the team from the Imperial Inspection Bureau as they receive their first assignment. A prominent senator's daughter has run away with a Jewel Cities artist. If this wasn't scandelous enough, their ship was waylaid by the Corsairs of the Crescent Sea. The parsimonious and irrascible senator demands an IIB team to retrieve his daughter and the Emperor complies.

Get ready for a rolicking, sea-borne adventure of triremes, faluccas and war-canoe driving cannibals...don't forget to buckle your swash :D!

Wadda ya think?

Actually, wait just a sec before everyone stampedes to put their games up (though feel free to discuss them here). I think that Neal needs to reset our database so that we don't get any wonky effects.

I've updated the database for the new Game Day. I've also opened it up so that events can be entered and (once approved) you guys can sign up for them.

Enjoy, and see you in a couple of months!

Ah, like Panacea for the soul... :) I was figuring you'd be putting this up soon.

Just as an aside, I was actually in the Raleigh area on the 6th (and a sliver of the 7th) on vacation -- planned to check out a bunch of places, maybe drop in and say "hi" to a couple of people, before one of my dogs got severely dehydrated and had to be rushed to the vet by the pet-sitter. Fortunately, he's OK now, but it kinda trampled the vacation. Oh, well, at least there's gameday... :)

I shall have to think on what I want to run, and come back to it. I would latch into Old One's game like a rabid dog, based on his skill, but I want to see some of the other offerings, too... :)

And I haven't abandoned the Story Hour, OO -- but once work calms down, and home life becomes a little more sane I'l get back to it ASAP.

What is it with you, did a happy ending bite you and pee on your leg as a child?

Game Day! Heck Yeah!!

Rel: Just remember to give me a heads up before you post your game. Christy and I want in, especially if it will be Kobolds! ;)

I am not sure what I am going to run this time around. I am thinking about d20 Modern: Chronicles of Carolina game using some of the new d20 Apocalypse rules. That could be fun. It will either be d20 Modern or d20 Future. I am in that type of mood.

DM Council Dinner

I have games scheduled for August 7 and 14 at All Fun and Games. Would anyone be intrested in holding another DM Council dinner on one of those nights? The 7th and 14th are Sundays.

*sigh, eyelash flutter* You had me at Bataan Death March ...but you cinched the deal with war-canoe driving cannibals. So I'm kinda leaning toward that second one.

As for me, I'm not sure what I'll do. It will likely be either the next Sky Galleons installment, which I intend to run at GenCon, or a Star Wars game that I'm going to try out in the next few weeks. I'll have to think about that some more.

Henry, you were welcome to drop by my house, especially since I wasn't there. ;) We were at the beach all week last week so you didn't miss us. Sorry to hear about the pooch but I'm glad that he's ok now.

As folks trickle in to the thread, I'd like to get their opinion on the structure of the "Mini-Con" Game Day next April 22-23. If you haven't already heard, we're reserving the space at the student center for two days (Saturday and Sunday). Would you guys like to keep our time slots like they are (9-2, 3-8) for both days or think about switching to more shorter slots? An alternate that Neal and I were talking about was Saturday (9-1, 2-6, 7-11) and Sunday (9-1, 2-6). That gives us one extra game session and we finish earlier on Sunday. But it also means that there is no scheduled "hang out" time after gaming on Saturday and the games will need to be shorter in general.

I could really go either way on this. I see the benefits of finishing sooner on Sunday, particularly for the out of town crowd. And getting in an extra game on Saturday might be nice too. But having longer slots has always given the GM's a bit more wiggle room in the sorts of games they can run.

Anyway, I'd like to get your opinions on this whenever possible so we can start planning ahead. And to make sure I'm clear, we're just talking about the April Game Days, not the one upcoming in September, which will stick to the traditional format of 9-2, 3-8.

Will do. I'm still not sure exactly what I want to do with the Koboldz! idea yet so if you have ideas and want to run with it, it was yours in the first place.

I'll let you know on the DM Dinner thing soon. Right now I think I'm free that evening but I gotta check with the social director.
