Dire Man

What would a dire man look like? I'm interested in appearance and stats. Could a dire man be a good substitute for half-orc? Has there been a dire (hu)man in any published book you know of?

IMO, It'd have to be bigger, wilder, and badder than half-orc, possibly a half-ogre (dire versions of animals are also larger than their normal cousins). Also, dire animals have all sorts of bony protusions sticking out of their backs, which should also appear on a dire humanoid.

For the record, I'll say that I'm quite surprised "Dire" didn't make it to a template in 3.5.

Surprised me too, although I think it would have meant rewriting all the other dires.

I am thinking Marrow from X-men....Or spike.....

You could check out the Neanderthal from Frostburn, that seems to feel pretty "Dire-Man" like to me.

Stat wise, a "Dire man" would effectively be a NPC with higher HD.

To compare the Tiger with the Dire Tiger, the only main differences seem to be that the Dire Tiger has higher HD, and a strength score 4 higher. The Dire Tiger is the same size, but other Dire animals may be a size category or two larger, with the resultant stat changes.

I've seen the template, but I can't find it in my files, so I didn't copy it, and Google didn't help much. Sorry .
