In the Mad Magazine i just opened up, there is an ad for the D&D basic game.

The D&D basic game box is resting on a broken and paint spotted black field. In front of the box in a miltary template text is

FREAKS
HERE'S YOUR
FLAG​

My son just got a subscription to Sports Illustrated for Kids, and I saw a one page ad in that magazine. I can't recall the exact language, but it was a pic of dice, something about their funny shapes. Seemed like a great place to increase awareness of D&D.

errr...was that a real ad? This being Mad Mazagine and all.

Or is there some referrence in that I'm not getting?

In enmity of the memory of Bill Gaines, Mad Magazine has started running ads.

Sounds like a paintball reference -- can't tell for sure without seeing the ad.

You've never heard of "letting your freak flag fly?" ie. Putting your odd hobbies out there publicly despite how weird people might think you are.

If anything, it's a sign that you're too young. The "Freak Flag" was flown originally in the 1960s.
