Half-Troll...LA +2

Okay...I'm looking for balance flaws with this Half-Troll race. I do have the flavor of the race setup elsewhere...but I'm worrying about it not meshing well ECL wise with other characters. I compared this with Races of Destiny's Half-Ogre...hoping to make it feasible.

Half-troll characters possess the following racial traits.

— +4 Strength, +2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, –2 Intelligence, +0 Wisdom, –4 Charisma.
— Medium: As Medium creatures, half-trolls have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
—Giant. Half-trolls are creatures with the Giant Subtype.
—A half-troll’s base land speed is 30 feet.
—Limited Darkvision: Half-trolls can see in the dark up to 30 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and half-trolls can function just fine with no light at all.
—Low-Light Vision: A half-troll can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. She retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
— +3 natural armor bonus.
—Special Qualities: Fast Healing 1, Inherited Vulnerability.
—Fast Healing 1 (Ex.): A half-troll heals 1 point of damage each round so long as it has at least 1 hit point. Fast healing does not restore hit points lost from starvation, thirst, or suffocation, and it does not allow a half-troll to regrow or reattach lost body parts.
—Inherited Vulnerability: -1 Racial penalty to saves versus Fire or Acid. Fire or Acid damage cannot be healed by the half-trolls’ Fast Healing special quality; instead, it must be healed naturally.
—Automatic Languages: Giant and Common. Bonus Languages: Orc, Goblin.
—Favored Class: Fighter.
—Level adjustment +2.

Hmmmmm....

This is a bit tricky, fast healing 1 is pretty darn good. I might give him LA +3 with a buy-out option at level 5 (ECL 8)- I believe UA has a pretty good system for reducing LA.
 

And if I dropped Fast Healing 1? Maybe...substitue something else to capture that Regenerate-esque flavor that comes naturally to Trolls? Or maybe add some horrendous penalty?

I'll have to look through UA...
 

Instead of Fast Healing 1...what if I just change it to Double Healing Rate (Ex)....of course...I could just use the bloodline from UA...I suppose...
 


Yeah, that would do it... I kind of like the idea of doubling their natural healing rate (triple with complete rest or long term care, quadruple with both).

I'd also change the vulnerability to simply be a penalty (since you're taking out fast healing anyway).

Increased Healing(Ex.): A half-troll heals at double the natural healing rate. If the half-troll rests or is given long term care, she heals at triple the natural healing rate. In the event she is given both complete rest and long term care, this healing increases to quadruple the normal rate.
—Inherited Vulnerability: -1 Racial penalty to saves versus Fire or Acid.
—Automatic Languages: Giant and Common. Bonus Languages: Orc, Goblin.
—Favored Class: Fighter.
—Level adjustment +2.

And you'd feel comfortable with that as an LA +2 player race?
 


Or try to go with Regeneration 0.

Yes 0.

That way all damage except fire and acid is subdual damage, healed once per hour, not once per day...
