Generation Legacy Issue #11 Cont'd

Brief Recap of Events

The students at the Institute have been through a tough day, still in mourning for burying a friend, a teammate, and fellow student they have all tried dealing with it in their own way. Problems in the Black Room, a Hurricane in the city, and battling demon minions of the Red Witch have kept the teens quite busy.

To compound the issue, Kelly has lost her soul, her father was murdered by Pantheon or the Movement, and is currently in the undersea city that is currently unnamed and constructed by her boyfriend, Tommy. Cassie is contemplating her fate silently, while back at the Institute Mark battles his addiction and hurts Star deeply with his actions. Ryan contacts the Cardinal and learns some disturbing news, while Anika tries to find a way to deal with the team’s internal problems. Plus Gilden has had a visit from Chaos, who as always shares his nuggets of wisdom with the budding arch-wizard.

But this all pales in the fact that in 72 hours, Genocide will die… or will he?

I believe Cassie had earned 1 HP, putting her at 1 total. Mark, Anika, Charlotte, and Timothy had each earned 1 HP. I believe this to be correct.

Mark

Paragon speaks, “Leadership is difficult Mark, but the team depends on you to be strong, you have to find a source of strength, either from within or perhaps someone else to draw upon. This job isn’t going to get any easier, it is only going to get harder. If you have something that is distracting especially with this Genocide operation looming on the horizon, you bloody well better speak up now, Mark.”

Ryan

Tina pauses outside Paragon’s office, “Maybe we should get Gilden to try and do his mind meld thing with Cassie, and like he did with Kelly when she disappeared. It may at least be worth a shot, right?”

Cafeteria

Kal welcomes Gilden, “Hey Cantrip, buddy, have a seat with us… I could use some pleasant company, everyone here is pretty down and out. So what is the good word, buddy?”

Sami just listens and eats his meal.

James

Kiyana floats in the water, “So do you think we should get something to eat or keep on swimming, I am getting a little hungry, but I will stay if you want to. I wonder what Mark wanted with Star, it seemed, you know serious. I really miss Yoshi, he was always so funny, and we could use some of that right about now.”

Kelly & Cassie

Tommy makes his appearance once Kelly, her mother, and Bishop have a moment to look around the large crescent shaped room, a dome looking out over the undersea city of sorts. He smiles wearing casual street clothes with his customary backwards cap, “Welcome everyone to my latest creation, the first of what I hope to be many elite refuges. I want to call it Kellyopolis, but I suppose I should leave the distinction to naming it to the person that inspired it.”

He looks at Kelly, “Your vision, my ingenuity.”

"Tina, you are a genius," he says with a smile. "It's dinnertime, so Legolas is probably in the cafeteria." Ryan then continues walking past Paragon's office and towards the cafeteria. Come Watson, the game is afoot. Heh. Sorry Tommy, but you practically gave me an engraved invitation. I wonder what Gilden saw with his first little Magic Eye experiment?

"Hey, Gilden," he says enthusiastically. "Think you can cast another one of those tracking spells, like the one you used on Kelly? This time, we're looking for Cassie...she made quite an exit from here. She's important, and she might be in danger. By the way, what did you see with the first one you cast?"

Mark, 2 HP

You're right about Mark, O Captain my Captain.

"I'm fine. I'll just-" Mark shook his head and sighed, staring at the floor. "I'm having a hard time dealing with all of this... I'm a loser. Clean up and be shiny happy boy. Yeah, that worked out. I screw up everything. I should have just gone and bought for myself. Star wouldn't be pissed and I'd lose everything, but I'm going to do that anyway. Just give me enough time.

It's hard to write indecisive. :)

Paragon nods, “Alright, well what is troubling you Mark? Why are you having trouble dealing with all of this? I know Yoshi was a good friend, and it probably does not help that there seems to be a clone running around… or is it Star?”

Karen looks a bit preoccupied with her thoughts, she felt she had somehow let Anika down by quitting Legacy and by continueing to oppose their plans to take on Genocide. Her friend looked she was under a lot of stress and she felt bad about adding to it.

And then there was Kal's reaction to her very mean attempt at a joke, it had startled her. She'd expected he'd panic or something, a normal guy his age would do so ... right? But Kal'd seemed almost happy... The look in his eyes had sold her to him, she was his now in body, mind and soul or how did they say it again? She absentmindedly rubbed her belly, at that moment she'd really wished it had been true with all her heart. She still did... How old was he really anyway? She loved him so much, yet she felt she still knew so very little of him...

She looks up and smiles at the pointy-eared alien when Kal greets him, "Hey Gilden."

She cringed when she heard Ryan behind her, suddenly looking very uncomfortable. She had had enough of him for today or even this week, "Excuse me," she mumbled as she got up, "I have to ... I have to go," She walks outside with hunched shoulders and her hands tucked deep into her pockets. She doesn't look up to greet Ryan. He made her want to say...to shout things she'd regret later. She felt it was better for anyone that she just stayed away from him for a bit.

Anika looks more than a little uncomfortable when Gilden approaches. She wanted to talk to him privately, but this would have to do. "Hi," she says to him. "I'm sorry about...at the office, okay?" she simply says with an apologetic smile. "What have you found out so far?"

When Ryan and Tina appear and Karen leaves, she says "Bye, Karen," with a look of understanding. "Nobody can clear a room like, you, Ryan," she thinks.

"Cassie only left a couple hours ago, Ryan,"
Anika tells him. "She obviously needs some time to figure things out, and I doubt she'll appreciate you going after her. Paragon let her go, maybe we should respect her decision for now. Besides, we have more imortant things to worry about right now."

Looking to Tina she tells her, "Tina, you seem enthusiatic to help out, which is what we need right now, so I wanted you to join us on our attack on Genocide. You good with that?"

Kal spends an indecisive moment, h pats Gilden warmly and then follows Karen out. He smirks to Ryan, “Would love to stay and chat, but a boyfriend’s work is never done, I guess. Be gentle Tina, try not to punch anyone during dinner,” he jokes.

Kal catches up with Karen, “Well that could have gone better, a little angry?”

Back at the Cafeteria

Tina shrugs draping her arms over Ryan’s shoulder, “Thanks for giving me your blessing Anika, but I was going to help anyway. This freak is threatening innocent people, your new boyfriend, and Ryan’s life; that pisses me off, especially the last part.”

Tina gives Ryan a healthy squeeze holding her curvy body against Ryan, she continues, “Even if Cassie thinks she needs time alone, this brainy kid just threatened Ryan and says he has both Cassie and Kelly… and you don’t understand, Cassie is too important to leave her in the hands of that maniac.”

Kelly's face lights up into a smile when she sees Tommy, though it doesn't manage to reach the whole way across her face. She floats over to him and gives him a very tight hug, and doesn't relax til he makes the Kellyopolis comment causing her to shudder. "If you really love me you wont inflict such a bad name on such a wonderful place." she jokes, smiling.

"Its incredible that you were able build this place so quickly. Maybe you can call it Sanctuary? Its what we hope that it can be for all the Elites after all." she says onm the subject of the name. "Were you going to build up a topside portion to it as well for the elites that need to be out in the open air or are you going to keep this place hidden for awhile?" she asks curiosly letting her be distracted from her pain.

"I ... I'm sorry, ... I'm fine ... really," Karen offers a wry smile, "M-maybe I'm not. It's just... Ryan. I just don't want to be in the same room with him right now..." she sighs, "I keep telling myself that deep down he means well, but I'm finding it harder and harder to actually believe it... You saw his smile when he heard we were gonna kill Genocide..."

Charlotte stands up at Ryan's mention of tracking her friend, "What do you mean Cassie might be in danger? Unless you have actual proof that she's in trouble, I really suggest you don't try to go after her. She texted me earlier today and said she was fine. Her boyfriend just died and her closest friend disappeared with no one giving her any answers so she went out to find them. You're saying she found Kelly, well, that's great but its none of your business anymore whether she's here or not."

"It looks to me like she left and there's no reason for her to be under U.N. jurisdiction, unless you're going to charge her as a criminal or there's something you're not telling us. You're a cool guy, Ryan, but I haven't seen you talk to Cassie in a way that would convince me you're actually concerned for her safety. If you did care about her, you would give her some space right now."

She wasn't really expecting a confrontation at dinnertime, but she felt like she had to stand up for her friend and the emotional train from the last couple of days made her less patient. Besides, Ryan looked particularly crazy at the moment and she really honestly didn't believe he was doing this for Cassie's own good.
