di Senzio's Tournament: Winged Flute

Semabin walks in the streets of Orussus going east of the Arena. The north eastern part of the city is the high district, the place all the rich of the city have gathered there house. The security level of this distrect is the highest even if few people are walking in these streets, as no shops can be found in it. Surrounding the high district are many shop and service that target aminly the rich people of the high district.

Among them is the Winged Flute. The Inn is strategically situated near the river, just south of the high district, at only 10 minutes of walk from the clerk district. The main patron are people coming into Orussus to visit rich friends or do business with the high members of the guild. Semabin finds his way up to the Winged Flute. The two stories Inn seems among the biggest Inn in Orussus, but Semabin doubt it could be more than the Red Dragon Inn.

A few kids are playing at hide and seek in the streets and one is counting out loud. "3... 2... 1... Reday or not, here I come!" The girls start to seek the others. A few men are presently transferring barrel from a wagon to the Inn. "That's a lot of wine. They expect a lot of people for that Tournament." tells one of the man.

Happy to know where it is Semabin starts to think what to do next when he hear the noise of cracking wood follwowed with a loud bang and the cry of a kids that quickly come silent.

[SBLOCK=Note about this "adventure"]This adventure is not an adventure as we are used to see it in LEW. It isn't: we find a group, we go there, we do that, we take our reward and we come back.

This adventure happen in Orussus, so anyone in the Red Dragon Inn can join up almost at any time. If you are in a contest, you will have the chance to do it. Between contest, there might happen things. You are watching the contest, there might happen things. You are in the streets of Orussus, taking advantage of the larger amount of merchant that have come to sell things suring the tournement, there might happen things.

I have three objective with this adventure:

• Do a tournement.
• Make Orussus more than a name, but a living city, where everyday (and not so every day) events happen.
• Create thinsg around the character, and not an adventure plot. Which mean, if you haev a background, I'll try to use it. Most of them, will end to be roleplay only, but some will end with an open chance for a futur adventure. I like to see that the background is more than just a story to tell around a fire.

Even if I'll try to feed all players with something, it might happen that some times, I slow down so the timeline stay the same for everyone (I never know when I'll make people cross there path). If at one time, you have a IC chance to go back to the RDI and you want to (your character find the archery contest boring and want to take a drink, do to the RDI, why not. It's a fine place to take a drink, it,s free! ) and by the same moment, you can do some publicity for the tournement.

Finally, if you want to join a contest, you can subscribe to it as long as it hasn't started for the category you want to join.[/SBLOCK]

Startled, Semabin rushes to the source of the sound.

He come on the side of the Winged Flute. The wheel of the wagon have broken and the wagon has collapsed. A kid was hiding under when the wagon collapsed. A man try to lift the wagon but without result. It seems to heavy for him. You see there is still ten barrel in it over the weight of the wagon.

"We need help here!" Semabin quickly shouts, and at first tries to help the man lift the cart. If that doesn't work, he'll tell the man that he (if he seems weaker than Semabin) to drop the barrels from the cart to make it lighter.

Semabin tells the man to removes the barrel. He try to ctach one, but with the nervosity he has, the barrel slip and start to roll out of the wagon up to the street. Semabin feel the fall, which only hinder his attempt. The man continue and hastly remove them, some findin themselves rolling to teh streets, to of them broke when the hit teh floor. The man's friend appear. "What happen?". "She is stuck under." "Who? By Hyrag!" The other man quickly come next to Semabin and try to help him to lift the wagon. With only two barrels left in the wagon seems to get lighter and you finally lift teh wagon. The girl under teh wagon seems unconscious and is bleeding.

At some distance, you hear the crowd cheering something. It comes from the south, the Arena being too far.

"We need a cleric, quickly!" (Is there a temple close by?)

[SBLOCK=KO]The nearest temple you are aware about is the temple of Gliran. you must cross the river. It is a twleves minutes walk you estimates. You have heard of a small chapel of Ulura, where the rich try to bring favor for their love affair... it is in the high district, but you do not know where it is.[/SBLOCK]

On man looks at the young girl, he seems panicked and doesn't seem to understand what you tell so much he is absorb by his panic. The other man tells you "We are not from this place... there is the temple of Hyrag on the other side of the city..." he seems almost ashame of his ignorance and inhability to do something.

You remark a few curious on the street... they are five or six but only two are starring in your direction, not understanding what is happening in teh alley. The other are lloking at the street.

Octavio cheer with the crowd, but the time is going fast in this race and see he is losing time, and start to run before someone ctach up, but happy to see he is still leading. He even gain a bit of distance on the half-orc ranger who was second and on teh hafling, who was third. The elven messenger catch back on these two, as the human messenger. The leading group behind Octavio start to become more dense. It's look like most of the people are tired and are taking there breath, slowing there pace for now. Only note, the elven knight who was far behind as just catch on the one in front of him, grudging all the advance the half-orc miner had on him.

Father in front of you, you see a small crowd that have started to gather in front of the Winged Flute to see the racers. You also see that some barrels are laying in the middle of the road.

[SBLOCK=Octavio]You'll need to roll a Str check again for the next step, but also a jump. If you fail the jump, you lose 5 + the level of failure. The DC is 10. (So if you roll 7, you miss by 3, you lose 3 + 5 = 8 )[/SBLOCK]

"That's too far..." Semabin curses. He thinks whether the Red Dragon or the Arena can be reached quickly. As he notes the curious people looking from the street, he shouts again that they need a cleric, and that a young girl is hurt.

One of the curious come to you. "You said? Oh..." the woman almost step back seeing the young girl, than quickly take a closer look. "You can go to the chapel of Ulura... it is two minutes from here. You have to take the streets north and turn left, pass the gate of the high district and it will be on your left. You can't miss it, it is lovely decorated by to lover who looks at each other on each side of the main entrance. But the racers are about to arrive, you migth have difficulty to make your way in the street."

[SBLOCK=OOC]The Arena is 10-15 minutes walk minimum with clear streets, more with teh crowd around it. The RDI must be 20-30 minutes walk... maybe a bit more even if the crowd is not as dense as around teh Arena.[/SBLOCK]

"I have to try it, at least." Semabin says as he carefully lifts the young girl, then starts rushing, following the directions given by the woman. He'll keep an outlook for spectators who seem to be holy men.
