Recommend me some fan-created settings!

Front Range Warlock
'm looking to run a True20 fantasy campaign in the future, but want to find a fairly original fantasy setting to pique the interest of my players. Commercial settings aren't beyond my scope of interest, but I more interested in little-known (but intricately detailed) homebrews. I'm sure that there are some killer freebies online (Jurgen Hubert's Urbis, for instance). Any suggestions. folks?

Feel free to pimp whatever setting you so desire, but please tell me how it differs significantly from the bog standard (e.g., Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, etc) and give me some idea of the description (i.e., what some folks call fluff) to mechanics ratio (the less space devoted to mehanics, the better). I'm aware of Urbis, Agyris, and The Inside (all of which are pretty baroque), but need a wider array of options to examine.

Your help is appreciated!

I have quite a few saved in My Bookmarks...

Inzelandun, How could I forget you? While doing research on D&D sites, I found this gem (with downloadable pdf!) ripe for the picking. Great maps, tons of history, interesting stuff all arund. And then I realised it was being hosted by another site, after having the link in my files for over a year. I found out it was EN World - and boy oh boy I have never turned back :D. My favourite fan-made CS.

The Waking Lands looks like it's fun and is by a game designer who has done quite a few different things in D&D (monsters in the new MM, some PrCs, etc etc). He has a neat Beserker class which replaces the Barbarian, too :). There really isn;t much in the way of setting, AFAICT, but there's plenty of other stuff to sink your teeth into.

Dawnforge. While I don't own this, I hear it's pretty good - heck it was one of the finalists along with Eberroni for the Campaign search way back when. Gotta buy the pdf, however...

Mythosa looks nice as well. Some good sized (free!) pdfs ripe for DLing :)

Frilond is another campaign setting which is interesting. He has crafted quite a few interesting races/monsters IIRC, which can be found out and around, and it seems fairly detailed as well.

Well, that's all I have for now, but those are some of the best :) There's also Aquerra by whatsisface...

EDIT: Oh, how could I forget? There is of course Dark Sun, which while a previous TSR setting, is quite a bit different than FR< Greyhawk or Eberroni. I plan to campaign in there at some point myself :)

There is a link in my sig. to a wiki page that provide many links to homebrew worlds. The one I prefer is Amethyst, which would fit very well with True20 IMO...

I have enjoyed reading about Terrima (see links below). It's not a complete setting, but the detail that does exists suggests a game focused on religious heresy and politics. The Shadow has drawn on excellent knowledge of European Christian history and theology. Who knows, you might combine Terrima with the Medieval Player's Manual (Green Ronin) and Dynasties & Demagogues (Atlas Games), and have yourself a bloody fun game.

Well, you said pimping was okay, so...

World of Conclave

http://www.splendour.freeservers.com

Kind of grim and gritty people in a high fantasy world, sort of mixtures of Ming and Qing China, Dutch VOC, Maori, Eqyptian and Celtic stuff with the odd fantasy thing thrown in.

It was designed to be systemless but I'm in the process of converting a lot to d20/OGL - quite considerable amounts of fluff and cultural details of you want a fairly detailed setting, but there are plenty of wondrous places and underhand shenanigans to fuel many adventures. ;)

Well, I guess I can skip my usual obligatory pimping in this case, then... ;)
