Change to the Cleric Class

First Post
One problem I have with Clerics is the fact that they all turn undead regardless of what God they worship. However, the channelling of Postive/Negative Energy is something they should do. I got this idea from KenzerCo and Kalamar. And it takes a few steps.

Turn Undead and Rebuke Undead becomes feats with the requirements Channel Positive or Channel Negative Energy respectively. This feat states that a Paladin effects as 3 levels lower as rules state now.

All feats that have a Turn/Rebuke Undead Prereq is instead changed to Channel Positive/Negative unless the feat deals with Turning Undead ( For example Disciple of the Sun).

At First Level Clerics gain the ability to Channel Positive or Negative Energy. This will correspond with if they channel Cure or Inflict. Paladins gain this ability at 4th Level and is always Channel Positive Energy.

At first Level Clerics gain a bonus feat that has a prereq of Channel Positive/Negative Energy. They must meet all the requirements. Paladins gain this bonus feat at 4th Level.

What other feats have a prereq of channeling positve or negative energy. On other words, what other use would the cleric have for the bonus feat than just taking turn undead anyway?

Quick List

Divine Cleansing
Divine Resistance
Divine Might
Divine Shield
Divine Vigor
Sacred Vengeance
Divine Metamagic
Divine Spell Power
Glorious Weapons
Divine Spontaneity
Profane Boost
Divine Justice
Divine Ward
Sacred Healing
Sacred Purification

Those are feats that a first level Cleric could take, from PHBII, Complete Warrior and Complete Divine

Actually, that's pretty nifty man; it really streamlines the cleric and allows for a nice customization - not ever cleric is vanilla now.

I might ever go so far as to give them the bonus feats at the levels Wizards get theirs, keeping first level open, of course.

I'd drop heavy armour prof, in that case, however.

Just soem thoughts :)
