Hey all,
I'm working on an information broker type diviner for a Ptolus game I'm about to play in and I'd like some opinions on the feats that I'm thinking of (this is my first attempt at a v3.5 mage). To preface I'm going to take 5 levels of Diviner, 4 levels of Divine Oracle, 10 levels of Loremaster and then 1 more levels of Diviner.
Feat-wise, for Divine Oracle I need Spell Focus: Divination. (I'm going for a non-Divine origin like the C.Div. book suggests and instead of Skill Focus: Know (Religion), I need the
Spell Focus: Divination.)
And for the Loremaster I need Skill Focus: Know (any) and three metamagic or craft magic item feats.
So this is what I'm thinking:
1st (free for Wizards): Scribe Scroll
1st (human bonus feat): Able Learner-- I chose this so I could have access to skills like Gather Info, Sense Motive and Diplomacy, which would jive with the information broker concept.
1st: Collegiate Wizard-- To get a larger variety of spells.
3rd: Spell Focus: Divination
5th (Wizard Bonus Feat): Enlarge Spell-- So my clairvoyance and such spells can see further.
6th: Sanctum Spell-- Since my Scrying will be done in private, this should be a good boon.
9th: Skill Focus: Know (Arcana)
12th: Greater Spell Focus: Divination
15th: Extend Spell or Craft Wonderous Item?
15th (Bonus Loremaster Secret Feat): Heighten Spell?
18th: Hidden Thoughts
I thought maybe the Collegiate Wizard or Able Learner might not be worth it. Would the extra spells really help any? Would I be better off relying on magic items to have a good Gather Info, Sense Motive and Diplomacy? I've also considered being a Gnome instead of Human and taking Trivial Knowledge (re-roll on Knowledge and Bardic Knowledge checks and take the best result). Is that a good one or hacky too?
Sorry for the ridiculously long post and thanks for any help!
