Soon, Im going to be running the fancy new Ravenloft book I got from our local bookstore, and after reading it over a few times I think its awesome..but still lacking in the roleplaying department. Now I relives that plot devices are up to the dm to add, other then the twist the books give you, but im having a hard time coming up with ideas that will be the focus of roleplaying through out the whole game.
I want to plots to be nuetral, meaning that there is both good and bad to the count names, and the players will have to decide if he is evil and have to kill him, or if his intestions are good and aid him in his goals (which have changed slightly from the book)
On top of that, Ireena will be the deciding factor on the end result, depending if the pc are kind to her who inturn would be kind to the count which would keep his intentions pure and not evil. This is all effected by what they decide from the role play.
stoping them is the count's brother, who beseeched the dark good for one month to stop his brother's plot which was granted. The weapons the players seek, are being moved around by him, who is in lich form.
The Count has the same plan, but with differnt motives: being a vampire himself, and rising to be the undisputed ruler of the land he knows what kind of power vampires are capable of, and knows of vampires with the same ambition. The count wants this power to destroy all other vampires, but further more, rule all the alnd with undead minions, but he can only do this with a queen. (He needs Ireena to be able to control the two artifacts on top of his new ability.)
I would like to see one of these as the end result:
1) The players decide that the count is evil and needs to be killed, and with work with his brother, or maybe against, to kill the count as normal.
2) The player's with Ireena talk him down, and romeo and juilet ending happens.
3) The players decide that the count's goals are good and help him achive them.
4) Inreena dies, the count goes beserk, blaming the party.
5) The party tries to overthrow the count to rule the land in his place.
So, with all that in mind please help me think of plot twist to achive one of these goals, plot twist that are both good role playing with hard choices and cuase the players to explore the land
