Do You Kill off your PC's.

I was just curious how many of you DM's or GM's or however you want to put it, actually kill off your PC's.

I know a lot of DM's that will fudge the results often or come up with some strange circumstances to keep the PC's alive, but how many of you are cold hearted enough to just let them die.

I myself have had at least 3 characters in our current campaign die and made the players create new ones.

Do I let 2nd level PCs die due to a bunch of bad roles made against a couple of skeletons or other beigns that were supposed to be a mere speed bump in the adventure? No.

Do I let PCs die in combat with the BBEG or one of his/her/its main minions? Yes.

Its what works best for me and my group and the games we want to play, but I know others will condem me for it.

This is pretty much my take on the matter. I won't kill a PC unless they're really asking for it, but boy can their adventure and their lives spiral down into the crapper if they persistently screw up. :]

I hardly ever fudge rolls to do it, though. It's built into the game - I use Mutants and Masterminds-style hero points and a hugely expanded range for the disabled and dying conditions.

We are between levels 13 and 15 currently.
 

Yes, they expect me not to cheat at all, everything they do is the result of their hard work, thinking cap, luck, and whatnot.
 

I try not to kill them.

It is simple. If you kill a character than you have a huge problem on your hands as a DM to solve, because the player is out. There is really no other reason than this one. It is a lot easier to fudge a result and punish the character (player) in other way, than to call for deus ex machina explanations how the new character joined the party in mid dungeon.
