Level 12, All books are fair game. Now, what should I be? [Updated, still need help!]

Nyaricus

First Post
I am going to be a player in a campaign, level 12, with any book that I own open for usage. That pretty much sums up 75-85% of 3.x WotC books, except for some of the sub-system expansions (like Magic of Incarnum, etc - which I am not interested in using).

I know another player is going to go for the mage role, and another will likely shoot for the monk class. So, what should I be, if all books are open? Powergaming is fair gaming, so I can min-max this as much as I want. And boy, do I want :D

Since we have a psuedo-fighter/scout character and a Wizard already, I was thinking about going with the tank/healer role. Any good builds?

thanks!

cheers,

The player who I thought would eb playnig an arcanist will be going with the Duckblade class frm PHBII. Any suggestions for me?

How about a dual whip wielding fighter/cleric. Oversized TWF and enough cleric levels (if possible) for Righteous Might. Later you could go into the Lasher PrC.

You could even trade cleric for PsyWarrior for the Expansion Power instead.

Make a Mystic Theurge. You will jump right over the long and tedious part, where the class totally sucks and start where it beings to be cool. ;)

The first question you should be asking is, "What level of spells do you expect us to have?" The second question is, "Are we getting accellerated feats?"

For a tank who's a secondary healer, try Ftr 2 / Mk 2 / Pal 4 / Kt 1 / Divine Crusader 3 or Pal 4 / Ftr 2 / Kt 2 / DC 4 or Pal 4 / Kt 4 / DC 4. You want Pal 4 to get Turn Undead to power Divine Feats if you don't get the Glory Domain. If your Crusader is going to get Glory and Healing, try Pal 3 / Ftr 2 / Mk 2 / Kt 2 / DC 3

Choose CHA as your primary stat (synergies with Paladin, Knight, and DC) and Healing as your domain, and try and get the Instinct and Glory domains (really, a Divine Crusader should have bonus domains of Glory if Good and Domination if Evil). Limited healing to start with, though.

For a primary healer, do you really need to look further than Cleric plus Radiant Servant of Pelor or Hospitaller (take a level or two of Paladin first)?

I don't have to book to hand, but if you've got the Dragonlance book, you might consider a Solamnic Knight.

Some ideas OTTOMH.

Divine Metamagic/Persistent Spell melee cleric. Maybe even a dwarf runesmith (RoS) mystic theurge.

Polymorph wizard or sorcerer. Could end up stepping on the duskblade's turf and most people seem to dislike polymorph. I've also wanted to try a monk/sorcerer sacred exorcist with divine might.

Fire themed sorcerer - all blasting, all the time. On my "to play" list.

War weaver from Heroes of Battle. Focused specialist (CMag) transmuter. Keeps the melee guys happy. Can be very powerful. (Treat the rest of the party as your henchmen and cheer every time your buffs help them deal damage. :) )

Archer. Cleric archer adds some healing to the party. Rangery archer can be very powerful with deepwood sniper (MotW), peerless archer (SilvMarch) and/or even Justice of Weald and Woe (ChampRuin).

Dwarf Fighter/PsyWar. Load up on armor feats. Tank.

Monster races:
Maug (FF). I've convinced a player in my RHoD game to play one to make up for me never being able to play one myself. :) High AC, reach weapon. Maybe go for war hulk (MinH). Clobberin' time.

Pixie. Good archers, but can also be nasty meleers with the right feats and classes. I like pixies.

Petal (MM3). Tiny fey. +2 LA, but many options due to ability score bonuses. Ninja maybe?

My last char of around level 12 was a barbarian/fighter/monk/kensai half-ogre. Worked well.

If you like any of these ideas I can elaborate.

(How do you determine ability scores?)

Something I played twice: Minotaur barbarian. Try it, you'll like it and you won't have to suffer through the first 8 levels.
