DRAGON #355 MAY 2007
The "Creature Catalog" returns to the pages of
Dragon magazine this month, featuring a hoard of new monsters including angry
mephitis, insect lycanthropes, planar swarms, vile plants, and much more. This issue also
features "Seven Saintly Domains," the "Ecology of the Sphinx," and new installments of
"Volo’s Guide and Dragonmarks."

DUNGEON #146 MAY 2007
The Savage Tide Adventure Path continues with “Serpents of
Scuttlecove,” sending the PCs to an infamous city where the police are cannibals and the
streets ruled by murderers and monsters. This adventure is supported by a backdrop
article and a four-panel poster map of the pirate city of Scuttlecove. In “Spawn of Sehan,”
the second installment of the “Servants of Sahan” three-part campaign arc, the PCs
confront a sinister sect of deformed cultists. All this plus a new low-level adventure,
Dungeoncraft, Downer, and Mt. Zogon!

Insect lycanthropes sound cool. I'd love to see insect shifters; I liked the lizard ones.

Not sure if I like seeing 2 adventures in the same Dungeon issue that are "sequels". The adventure path is enough for me.

I don't like the adventure paths as "paths", but they sure give me plenty of material/ideas to use, with pretty maps qand illo's to go with them. The 3 part adventure arc is short enough I might actually use it as is. I'll find out after I read them.

Its definitely looking like I am going to be buying/subscribing to Dragon again.

This is not new, WotC did this before. I wish Dragon article authors did research before posting stuff like this. It's called the "Entomanothrope" and it's located here: WotC's ENTOMANOTHROPE TEMPLATE

Other than that mishap, the rest sound pretty darn neat. Can't wait!

I agree, it's rather frustrating to see the same territory gone over twice. Maybe they'll use the same template, but then that'd just be a waste of space. :(

My point exactly, kinda sucks to pay for something already free when it could've been omitted to put something new. But I doubt the magazine has gone to print yet and Dragon's staff do frequent these boards and the Paizo boards so I hope they read this and fix the situation. I'll post a similar thread on Paizo's boards to, so it's brought to their attention.

I am pretty sure that the reason for this is that the gamers that do not have internet access can use this material. I know if I were one of those gamers I'd be grateful for the printed content.

We wrote those solicitations months ago. While the gist of them is accurate, I wouldn't advise getting too bent out of shape about the specific contents. We're currently working on Dragon #353, for example, and haven't even started on the next Creature Catalog other than maintaining a pile of "maybe" monsters. We'll look at the template on the WotC site and make an informed decision after the holidays.

My players have learned to loathe mephits. Especially talkative ones.

It has angry mephits. I'll be happy.

I imagine that the gamers who have internet access far and away eclipse those who get Dragon magazine. The idea of something being in the magazine to reach the audience that buys Dragon but can't get online seems ludicrous; even if you don't have access to the internet, it's easy and often cheap (if not free) to find someone who does, or at least use the public library or a cafe.

Maybe I'm just having a failure of imagination, but...are there any gamers who both get Dragon and don't have internet access? If someone said no, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
