Not a good day for WotC getting its facts straight. In this article, the writer (whose name is misspelt in the byline) claims:

"The 1974 "Blue Box" edition of D&D came with a full set of (badly made) polyhedral dice."

The "Blue Box" edition or basic set wasn't released until 1977 and the original 1974 edition didn't include dice at all.

And what's more, several editions of the Blue Box didn't come with dice at all - they came with those little chits instead...
