Ghost Items?

My understanding of ghosts is that they have a spectral copy of whatever gear is on their corpse. Can they detach their gear and wield it with telekinesis? I've never seen it done, but I have a player who wants to do just that with his PC ghost.

I'm assuming you mean the real versions of their equipment, rather than the spectral copy they have on them. I'd say sure, as long as somebody didn't take the animated weapon, they could use telekinesis on it just fine. I wouldn't allow them to have and use both at the same time, though - that would get a bit cheesy, having two copies of the same weapon for the price of one. Wouldn't normally be a problem, since they could only use one at a time, but if they managed to finangle a way to wield a weapon telekinetically and physically at the same time, I don't think I'd allow it.

Ghost touch items are fully corporeal - they just happen to be physical in both the 'real world' and the ghost world at the same time. A ghost and a normal human could get in a tug-of-war over a ghost touch item, even if they can't usually touch each other.

I thought the OP was referring to the incorporeal items on the ghost's spectral body...

I'd say "yes" - the ghost can wield their ghostly equipment. I suspect that this player of the OP's is most likely hoping to use their weapon, and maybe gain the ghost touch feature to it...
The simplest way to do it is to rule that as the incorporeal sword is just part of the manifestation of the ghost, it does no more or less damage than the ghost itself. Perhaps you might allow a ghost wielding a sword to gain whatever Weapon Focus and Specialisation bonuses it had in life.

Well, what confuses me is that I have a ghost player who wants to extend his sword out, use telekinesis to grab it, and use a ring of X-ray vision to guide its attacks all while standing deep in bedrock.

If it's a ghostly copy of his weapon, can it separate from his ghostly body?

If it's the real sword, can he take it around with him without it interfering?
