The Gelflings and I will be conducting two classes in the basics of traditional Irish dance and Ceili choreography during two different sessions on Thursday. This is part of the SPA Track, events for non-gaming (gasp!) spouses and children.
The Gelflings will demonstrate a few dances, then we'll do some fun warmups and stretches and learn the basics of traditional Irish dance (reels and jigs: 1-2-3s, 7s, "rise and grind", placement , technique, etc). Then we'll teach at least one traditional set or ceili dance. We'll start with the Faery Reel, and depending on how quickly participants learn, possibly one or two more other dances.
The first session is at 1pm and is available for those ages 6 and up.
The next one is at 7pm, and is for those 13 and up.
For both, those under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is 5 tickets for the 2 hour session. Bring comfy shoes and bring plenty of water! Each workshop needs at least three people to run, and a maximum of 18. There are only 4 spots left for the Thursday afternoon session, but plenty of room is left for the evening one. Sign up through events registration on the Gen Con site, and please, let me know if you're planning on attending- I'd love to see some EN Worlders!
