H3: Heaven, Hell and Hegemony is a new rpg entering the exciting yet dreadful beta testing stage. Care to playtest?
In H3, humanity has spread into the universe and is ruled by the atheistic Hegemony. 5 years ago, humans opened gateways to Heaven and Hell. Angels and devils, at war for centuries, tried to force humanity to join their side against the other. After a brief three-way war, a Treaty allows humanity to remain neutral. Instead of open war, a cold war grips the Hegemony as angels and devils, disguised as humans, try to get planets to secede and join their side.
You play enforcers--government agents that enforce the Treaty. You investigate cases of heavenly or hellish influence, arresting or even executing humans, angels and devils who are trying to overthrow the established order. However, you secretly worship a faith; it gives you special powers over reality, but if you are caught, you might be executed for treason.
The game emphasizes choices and their consequences. The system uses a d10 die pool that allows you to control how much effort you want to put into an action. All die rolls fall into several levels of success or failure, depending on how much effort you use. This adventure has some CSI/Law & Order elements mixed with combat and a PARANOIA-esque interplayer rivalry.
