Any ideas on why it's more expensive than the three books combined? Maybe it comes with the two preview books and the DM screen or something...

The only extra is the slip case. OTOH the extra price is just 10 cents.

What?

I am seeing the gift set priced at $104.95 at Amazon.com.

I am seeing each of the core rulebooks priced at $23.07 at Amazon.com, for a total price of $69.21 if you buy all three.

That is a difference of way more than 10 cents.

The core books have a 34% discount on them. The gift set has just been listed, so it is still at full price.

$35 worth of sturdy cardboard slipcase? :uhoh:
Comparing MSRP to MSRP it is a difference of nil. Have a little patience I'm sure that at somepoint in the next five months Amazon will slap a discount on it. ;)

As I mentioned back when the gift set was confirmed by Scott Rouse, for folks like me not living in the US, the gift set actually represents a saving, if ordering from Amazon. Since it is only a single item, we save on the "per item" shipping fee from Amazon.

Of course, this assumes that Amazon will discount the price, but I'm fairly certain that it will happen.
