takes up 25% of my laptop screen, and its constant flashing is bugging the crap outta me. as if someone here needs to see an ad for 4e. "oh wow, i didn't know 4th edition was coming out!"

I am very impressed with your extreme sarcasm. Well done. I have immediately warmed to your point of view.

Moved to Meta.

the level of sarcasm is equal to the level of that ad's annoyance, i think.

that being said, any way you know to turn it off without uninstalling flash?

thx

Nope. We want you to see it. It pays the bills.

Those with CS accounts will be able to turn off ads soon (as soon as we get the code done).

sorry for the hassle. i just got that adbocker thing for firefox, problem solved. dont worry, no revenue lost from it for me, i am no buying 4e anyhow.

Fair warning. I will be placing code in EN2 that will inspect the page and refuse to display it if ad blockers are in use - the page will also fail to display if Javascript is disabled.

Viewing the page without the ads is, in my view, stealing.

Regarding the CS accounts: Would the Custom Title or Who's Online Access suffice or do you need a more expensive account?

(I would pay for the first ones to get rid of the add)

I hope it doesn't mean that I have to instal a flash player to see ENworld. I also use often public computers and have no chance to instal it on them.

But I see the static add at the moment. Will this suffice?

Adding the ad to the copyrighted material of the posters violates the integrity of the post and violates the moral rights of the author of the post, protected by the Berne Convention and written law in several states.

Sorry, Michael, but you're wrong here.

The forum is free for users. Publishers that use ads know pretty well that there are adblocker softwares available and are willing to bite the bullet, realizing it's a minority.

By your rationale, TiVo would also be stealing, no?
