Gamera is really neat! He is made of turtle meat! We all love you, Gamera!

Maybe that was false advertising. The Gamera you are about to witness is not the cheesy turtle of Saturday afternoon creature-features. He is not the Gamera of Mystery Science Theater. He is the Gamera of a series of lucrative sequels made to cash in on the second Godzilla series. But they were really good movies, anyway.
Enjoy, and, as always, comments are welcome.

Gamera is a massive turtle-like kaiju who is the sworn defender of the earth, although sometimes at the expense of its people.

Gamera resembles a bipedal turtle about 200 feet tall. His shell is studded with razor-like spines along its edges, and Gamera can pull his head and appendages into his shell. His mouth is large, with two huge tusks protruding from his lower jaw. His arms and legs are muscular, and spines jut from his elbows. One of Gamera’s more unusual powers is his ability to fly by retracting his legs into his shell and releasing jets of blue flames from the empty sockets. He can fly faster by retracting his arms and head as well, spinning like a razor edged top.

Thousands of years ago, a great civilization powered itself with magic that tapped into the energies of the earth, which they called “mana”. This mana allowed them to accomplish marvelous things, but after 1000 years of mana depletion, a horde of gyaos (see entry) was created, and it destroyed their civilization. In order to save themselves, the people created a giant monster to serve as their defender. Although he failed his task, Gamera survived in hibernation, carrying with him the comma shaped stone amulets that the people of his lost civilization used to communicate with, and aid, him. His original task has been warped somewhat over the ages; he now defends the earth over its people, and will destroy humans if they threaten the natural balance, or get in the way of some greater pursuit.

Combat
Gamera usually prefers to soften up opponents with his fire burst before closing in for melee. If sorely pressed, he uses his spell-like abilities to heal and aid himself at the expense of his bonded-partner (see Amulet of Gamera description below). Only in the direst of circumstances does he use his mana blast ability, for it has dire consequences for the planet.

Amulet Sense (Su): Gamera is always aware of where any attuned amulets of Gamera are, and of the physical state of the amulet-wearer (s).

Fire Burst (Su): Every 1d4 rounds, Gamera may launch a ball of fire from his mouth. This ball of fire acts like a fireball spell with a range of 500 feet (no range increment) and a radius of 50ft. Any creature within the blast that fails a Reflex save (DC 59) takes 20d6 points of fire damage or half that on a successful save. Gamera may make multiple fire bursts in quick succession (up to 4 in one round), but each additional fire burst adds 1d4 rounds to the delay between uses.

Grappling Claws (Ex): Every round that Gamera maintains a hold on a grappled opponent, it deals an additional 3d6+30 points of damage.

Improved Grab (Ex): Whenever Gamera hits an opponent with his bite attack, he may make a grapple check as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity (grapple bonus +101). If he gets a hold, he can choose to conduct the grapple normally, or only hold the opponent in his jaws (-20 to all grapple checks, but Gamera is not considered grappled). Regardless of how the grapple is conducted, the opponent takes automatic bite damage each round Gamera maintains the hold. If Gamera conducts the grapple normally, the opponent also takes damage from his grappling claws.

Mana Blast (Su): Once per year, as a full-round action, Gamera may deal 10 points of Constitution damage to the wearer of the amulet of Gamera and fire a massive beam of pure destructive force from a hole in his carapace. This takes the effect of a line 50ft wide, 50ft tall and 1000ft long. All creatures in this area take 35d8 points of damage from the pure destructive force (Reflex DC 61 for half damage). Using the mana blast has two side effects. First, Gamera is automatically exhausted, and remains so until he has spent at least 6 months resting. Secondly, the attack is exceedingly draining to the earth’s health. One month after the mana blast is used, 10d10 gyaos and one greater gyaos are created from this aftershock in the earth’s energy.

Spell-like Abilities: As a standard action, Gamera may deal 2 points of Constitution damage to the wearer of the amulet of Gamera and use any one of the following spell-like abilities three times per day.
Aid, bull’s strength, cat’s grace, cure serious wounds, divine favor, endurance, mage armor. All of these spell-like abilities can affect only Gamera. Caster level 20.
As a standard action, Gamera may deal 5 points of Constitution damage to the wearer of the amulet of Gamera and use heal as a 20th level caster once per week.

Spinning Tackle (Ex): By retracting its arms, legs and head in flight, Gamera can spin rapidly, gaining the better of the listed fly speeds. Gamera can also ram opponents while spinning, dealing the listed damage.

Telepathy (Su): Gamera can communicate with the wearer of the amulet of Gamera telepathically over any distance.

Trample (Ex): Gamera can simply run over any creature of Gargantuan or smaller size. Merely by moving over the opponent(s), Gamera deals to them 4d12+20damage. Trampled opponents can make Reflex saves for half damage (DC 62), or make an attack of opportunity against Gamera.

Amulet of Gamera
Minor Artifact
Approximately fifty of these small stone comma-like structures were found imbedded in Gamera’s shell when he was first discovered, but the location of all but one of them remains unknown.
The stone itself is not an amulet, but is has a small hole in it allowing it to be hung on a chain around the wearer’s neck. After one day of being worn in such a fashion, the amulet becomes attuned to that individual. Once the amulet is attuned, it’s powers come into effect. The amulet gives its wearer a +4 enhancement bonus to Charisma. The wearer of the amulet and Gamera are placed in constant telepathic communication. Gamera can draw points of Constitution from the wearer of the amulet in order to power his spell-like abilities or mana blast. Such actions have the side effect of causing wounds to open in the amulet wearer’s flesh in the same locations as Gamera’’s wounds. If Gamera dies, the wearer of the amulet may willingly deal 10 points of Constitution damage to herself in order to cast true resurrection on Gamera. This ability only works once. All ability damage dealt to the wearer of the amulet of Gamera, including Constitution points lost to aid Gamera, heal at a rate of 2 per day, as opposed to the normal 1/day.

AmbushBug, this is the general Heisei Gamera. Don't remember that thing about a race of Gamera. It's been a while since I saw Iris Awakens. Of course, since that's just flavor text, feel free to ignore it if you choose.

Any interest for Legion or Iris?

You know, this is absolutely amazing... :)

I followed the thread to look at Monte's Star Destroyer, and from there went to the site with all the different sized and scaled starships. While there, I saw a picture of Godzilla that had been included to show scale, and that got me to thinking. It occured to me to see if I could find a Godzilla statblock for 3e... but only moments later I had a much better idea - Godzilla's cool, sure, but my favorite giant monster has always been Gamera! So I was going to start a thread asking if anyone had made a 3e statblock for everyone's favorite Giant Flying Turtle... I actually had the post all typed up and everything, was about to submit it, when suddenly it occured to me that I should check here to see if there was anything like this already posted.

And whadda ya know?

Coincidence?

I think not.

Many thanks and massive kudos to Demiurge for this one - it's EXACTLY what I was looking for, before I even knew I was looking for it! Spooky, but cool.

Demiurge, howsabout this: You throw one of these at us, and I watch the movies. We'll probably hit level 28 or so in about 6 months or so, which is just in time. Whatdya think?

Hahahahahaha No.
Well, maybe. Probably not. I seriously doubt you people will be 28th level by December. You're what, 8th? 9th?
