The Kithmourn (Assassians of the Mournful Order of Kinslayers)

"The Kithmourn are an assassian's guild of highest order, they are best known becasue they send gifts of mourning to those who are slain by thier members and letters of condolence to thier kin. I can only assume they do not do this, when an assassination is to be known as natural or accedential death. Thier most famous assassination was Morgoth Hellspawn, High priest of the Demon-god Ahriman. It caused a 7 day battle to erupt within the church when Morgoth's soul did not reach Ahriman.

Gaining membership into that vile secret society? Well, first you have to go kill your brother and then get yourself hanged for it. Next they bring you back. Living or Unliving seems to depend on thier mood. Then a time spent training and traveling as an actor or simply as a spy for the order. How Long? That depends on how good you are. finally you will be given an assignment and the Kithmourn don't care if you survive it becasue they usually just bring you back if you succeed. If you fail well lets just say your membership is revoked." from not-so-secret socities by Corst Quicktongue shortly before his assination by the Kithmourn.

Class Features
All of the following are Class Features of the kithmourn prestige class.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: kithmourns gain no proficiency with any weapon or armor.

Sneak Attack (Ex): This is exactly like the rogue ability of the same name. The extra damage dealt increases by +1d6 every other level (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th). If an kithmourn gets a sneak attack bonus from another source the bonuses on damage stack.

Death Attack (Ex): If an kithmourn studies her victim for 3 rounds and then makes a sneak attack with a melee weapon that successfully deals damage, the sneak attack has the additional effect of possibly either paralyzing or killing the target (kithmourn’s choice). While studying the victim, the kithmourn can undertake other actions so long as her attention stays focused on the target and the target does not detect the kithmourn or recognize the kithmourn as an enemy. If the victim of such an attack fails a Fortitude save (DC 10 + the kithmourn’s class level + the kithmourn’s Int modifier) against the kill effect, she dies. If the saving throw fails against the paralysis effect, the victim is rendered helpless and unable to act for 1d6 rounds plus 1 round per level of the kithmourn. If the victim’s saving throw succeeds, the attack is just a normal sneak attack. Once the kithmourn has completed the 3 rounds of study, she must make the death attack within the next 3 rounds.
If a death attack is attempted and fails (the victim makes her save) or if the kithmourn does not launch the attack within 3 rounds of completing the study, 3 new rounds of study are required before she can attempt another death attack.

Poison Use (Ex): kithmourns are trained in the use of poison and never risk accidentally poisoning themselves when applying poison to a blade.

Just Another Face in the Crowd (Su):
at 2nd level no one can give an accurate description of a kithmourn or even recognize him if he were to see him again unless they succed at a spot check opposed by the Kithmourn's disguise check.

I Come Unarmed (Sp): at 4th level, a kithmourn gains the ability to use instant summons as a free action any weapon he has weapoon focus in a number of times per day equal to one plus his Int Modifer. The weapon must still be prepared beforehand as per instant summons.

Tears of the Crocidile (Su): At 6th level, a kithmourn can fool any form a divination that could expose her disguise (ie. detect lies, detect evil, true seeing etc..)as a free action. she gives a false reading of her choice if the opponent fails a caster level check opposed by the kithmourn's bluff check

A Thousand Faces (Su): At 8th level, a kithmourn gains the ability to change her appearance at will, as if using the alter self spell, but only while in her normal form.

Even Demons Mourn (Sp): At 10th level , a kithmourn can trap the soul (Will save 20+ kithmorn's Int Modifer) a character she has successfuly death attacked as a free action. this action does not provoke an attack of opportunity

Non-standard feats
THESPIAN [GENERAL]

Benefit: You get a +2 bonus on all Bluff checks and Disguise checks.

The game mechanics seriously need some work - But the concept and flavor are delicious.

Thank you for taking the time to review it but I don't understand your problem with teh mechanics if you could be more specific it would be more useful.

Cool Class!

Qwillion - cool class, I like it! I do not see a fault in mechanics, although its a little tough and some features need clarification:

Just Another Face in the Crowd: unless they make a spot vs his disguise. Only when he is disguised, or all the time? Does it matter if he is aware of it? What about those immune to illusion or mind effects (say a construct)?

Tears of the Crocidile: does he have to know of the attempt? What of folks with natural ability (true sight as regular vision) - do they save 1/day, 1/encounter/?

Membership - you do not actually apply, do you? Murder of a family member gives you a chance to join, even if you do not want to? Few such folks will meet the criteria. Is their some way such a murderer marks himself or lets it be known he wishes to join?

These guys get some pretty good powers - is it a demonic organization (raising or animated is not easy nor cheap) or evil god?

Why do they send message of grieving? Style - appeasement/ritual/fun?

Again, cool class :D

"Just Another Face in the Crowd: Only when he is disguised, or all the time? "
All the time.

Does it matter if he is aware of it?
No

"What about those immune to illusion or mind effects (say a construct)?"
This ability is supernatural and only affects perception true seeing can see through I should probably have listed this as a glammer but immune to magic or mind effects does not affect this ability in any way.

"Tears of the Crocidile: does he have to know of the attempt? " no.

"What of folks with natural ability (true sight as regular vision) - do they save 1/day, 1/encounter/?" this would function the same way an invisible character with non-dection on would work.

"Membership - you do not actually apply, do you? "
No they choose you.

"Murder of a family member gives you a chance to join, even if you do not want to?"
If you don't want to they just inform the local law enforcement or they can simply animate you and not give you choice.

"Few such folks will meet the criteria. Is their some way such a murderer marks himself or lets it be known he wishes to join?"
Its are rather exclusive group of assassians, wow a prestige class that is actually prestigious! You don't choose them they choose you

"These guys get some pretty good powers - is it a demonic organization (raising or animated is not easy nor cheap) or evil god?"

This has to do with Questspier. Questspier is a monothestic setting with various archangels, Saints, and Archfiends that take the place of the standard evil gods and cults. The Kithmourn are an ancient Cult led by a cleric of the Archfiend: Ahriman the Prince of Sin. They also have the backing of a Cursed Noble house and a Guild of Eunch Wizards

Why do they send message of grieving? Style - appeasement/ritual/fun?
It is an ancient ritual passed down from when the order first started when they actually greived for those relatives who were injured by the death of those were ordered to kill

"Again, cool class"

Thank you for your very constructive criticism is there a way I can recipricate?
