Description

History (more coming)
Andrew is a pastor in good standing of the “Mother Church of the Anglican” (the Church of England), although he is still very young. He is only recently graduated of the seminary, and has been assigned only minor duties in [local church name here]. Andrew grew up something of a bookworm, dedicated to his studies and to his parents wishes, but he did get into some trouble here and there; nothing major, mostly some petty thief on a dare or breaking some windows. He still carries a set of brass knuckles from those days, for no matter how peaceful a man might be, not everyone follows that philosophy.

XP: 1500
Next level: 3000

Contacts: Henry Sweet (linguist and philologist)*, Jonathan Wield (Mortician, Metropolitan Police)

Description, Personality: 5'9, 160 lbs., 26 years old (dob 13 Oct. 1861), blue eyes, brown hair, trim beard and mustache. Jamison is thoughtful and intelligent, but has his head in the clouds most of the time. He's far too interested in the occult & current theological theory for most of his peers, and when he isn't reading about those two topics, he spends far too much time reading about modern British, Irish, and American history. He is fiercely supportive of Irish Home Rule, despite having never lived in the country (his grandparents came to England during the Potato Famine).

Background: Jamison O'Fingal Diggory has spent the last three years of his life as an inspector in the Metropolitan Police, roaming through St. Giles and Whitechapel. He fell into the job largely accidentally, having left Oxford after two years of study (religion, classics) without any specific plans in mind. A friend of a friend of the family, John Wield, recommended he look into working for Police, and Jamison has risen through the ranks over his five years on the force (that would put him in Oxford in 1881, leaving in 1883, working as a patrolman for two years in 1884-85, reaching inspector in 1886). He's good at the job but would rather be reading theology, literature, philosophy, or books on the occult at any given time. After the incident at Pellgraine Manor, Diggory was inducted into the Golden Dawn by WB Yeats as Frater VBGA (vita brevis, gloria aeternum).

Background
Trevor Macallistair's family holds lands in both Scotland and central England (including estates around the town of Walsingham). The first Baron Walsingham (Trevor's great grandfather) received that title for services to the crown in Canada during the War of American Independence.

Trevor's upbringing was as typical as a member of the nobility's can be. He was at Eton for school and there met Ivo Bligh, with whom he is still friends. At the age of 21 he briefly entered the military. The life of a junior officer did not suit him, however, and he resigned his commision after only a few years, having seen no action. At 25 he met and wooed Catherine Baer, a distant cousin and the daughter of Marquess Wolverton. Unfortunately, shortly before their planned wedding Catherine died of a sudden fever. Trevor went into a tailspin. He spent the next several years drinking, gambling and generally abusing his money. As a result, the family coffers are somewhat depleted (though still respectable). He was pulled out of this self-indulgent mire by another tragedy. His father died, leaving Trevor as Baron Walsingham. The process of overseeing the family fortunes has given Trevor some focus and he is now starting to pursue other interests. He keenly follows government policy (and is of course a member of the House of Lords). He is an outspoken proponent of Irish home rule, for example.

Contacts

The Honorable Ivo F.W. Bligh
Brother of the Earl of Darnley and famous cricketer. We were at Eton together. Retrieved the ashes in '83, don't you know. Currently president of Kent CCC. More here.

Marie Lloyd
Music hall star. A handsome and charming young woman. Unfortunately not generally accepted in polite company.

Willie Stemple
A fellow of low station and lower repute, but very knowledgeable about certain...activities.

Elizabeth Lady Stanton
The widow of Trevor's late friend Lord Stanton. Poor fellow was run down by a carriage two years ago. Lady Stanton is a woman of the highest quality, and unsuspected resources. Clever, resolute and daring. Trevor admires her greatly.

Description: See picture below.

Background: Born into a medical family, no-one was surprised when Richard expressed an interest in becoming a doctor. Unlike his father, however, Richard has always been reluctant to perform surgery, believing that pharmacy is a far better way of curing the ills that effect the human body. This, coupled with a deep-seated interest in science of all kinds has lead to his somewhat unconventional approach to medicine. He works at London Hospital, but regards his duties there as something of a distraction from his real work of perfecting chemical cures.

Background
William was raised in an orphanage in Bethnal Green. He never knew his parents and had a poor, hard life as a child in London's East end. He survived through quick wit and strength of arm.

When he was 14, William signed up for the army. It could be said that he did it for the adventure, or for the modest pay, but all he really wanted was to have food in his belly and a warm place to sleep. He had no idea that these two ideals would come at intervals too far apart for his liking in the service of the army.

He started his army service doing the things young men do in the army. He played drums, piped pipes and ran messages between officers. After a few years he was old enough to stand in the rank and file with the men, so he did so. He fought in campaigns through out Asia, mostly small skirmishes in India and such.

By the time the second Afghan war had started, William was a corporal in the Fusiliers. He was offered a vocation change to artilleryman when most of a battery's men were wiped out in a vicious counter attack by Afghan forces. William had always been intrigued by the huge cannons belching death hundreds of yards away, so he gladly took the offer.

Sour fate raised her ugly head into William's life once again a few months later. In the heat of battle the battery line was overrun and William's cannon exploded in the ensuing confusion. Most of William's crew was killed in the blast, but he was not so lucky. He survived the months in the field hospital that saw disease and death all too frequently and he still bears the scars of that fight now with quiet shame.

After the Afghan war, William and most of his unit was shipped back home, where he spent the rest of his years doing peace time work and staying away from people. His full pension was paid up, so after twenty years in the army, he was honorably discharged. He still goes to the barracks now and again to tell tales of war and scare the wits out of new recruits.

The last few years have seen William drift around London's poorer neighbourhoods, drinking and whoring and being sour on life in general. He has taken the occasional odd job here and there for something to do and a little extra coin.

Appearance
William is no longer a handsome man. He has heavy scar tissue over 30% of his body, running the length of his right side, from the crown of his head down to his feet. He is missing his right ear and the ring and pinky finger on his right hand. He talks in a quiet voice, and can be bitter and fatalistic. He dresses in concealing clothing that he can use to hide his appearance from a casual glance. Brimmed hats, upturned collars, gloves and the like.
