Battle of the Welcome Wench (Round 2) "Oh for goodness sake, can't a man have his meal in peace and order!" the gnome exclaims while positioning himself such as not to impede any of the others, but still have a good view of the fight. When he is positioned correctly, he then extends his left hand, palm up, and a ray of light purplish light strikes for the closest zombie. Unfortunately, the melee around Tetsuko is too chaotic. Gordon's disrupt undead misses its target by mere inches. Realizing a bit belatedly that her best means of attack, a mental assault that would wreck havoc on a mortal foe's psyche but caused no physical damage, was all but useless against a creature already dead, Tetsuko is somewhat hesitant to provoke the approaching monsters by attacking with her staff. Instead, she decides to back away somewhat and let her comrades deal with the beasts up close and personal. As she does so, however, she gets a mischievous grin on her face and, turning to the tavern owner, says, "Just so you know, things are about start breaking..." "Break away, lass!" says Gundigoot as he shoulders his crossbow. "Just don't burn the place down!" Tetsuko's eyes suddenly begin to glow a pale silver and one of the mugs on a nearby table lifts off into the air, then hurtles at one of the zombies' head. The heavy mug shatters against the monster's head, but to no effect. Even though the mug split skin, such a minor injury appears inconsequential to the zombie. As Tetsuko backs away, Xenon takes a step forward and stabs the undead thing in the breast, but this kind of attck seems unefficient. Although the mindblade pierces the creature's chest, the puncture doesn't appear to harm the zombie. "In...fant..." croaks one zombie as they both lunge at Xenon. Xenon gets his shield up in time to fend off one of the zombies, but the other slips through the soulknife's guard. Steely fingers claw into Xenon's shoulder, pinching painfully through his chainshirt. In the next instant, the zombie and Xenon are locked in a grapple. Norim steps towards the other zombie. "Begone foul creature! Leave these poor citizens in peace!" he shouts as he slashes at the creature's head with his longsword. Norim's blade opens a ghastly wound across the zombie's abdomen. Dust and vermin spill out, and the foul creature groans as if in pain. In the next instant, a crossbow bolt zips between Norim and the zombie at head level to lodge in a wooden post 15 feet away. "Damn!" Gundigoot curses. [sblock=Combat Box] N.B. Gordon's attack roll did not take into account the -4 penalty for firing into melee.
