Birds! (Round 2) The birds swoop back in at Dacen, who curses and swings again. His heavy mace crushes another one of the birds, batting it from the air. Gordon's spear leaps forward, nicking the other bird and drawing bird. Its talons scratch and wings buffet, pounding against Dacen's armored body. The cleric staggers backward, and then sprawls onto his back. Gordon falls back a few feet to give Dacen room to fall, all the while bringing his longspear to bear against the fearsome birds. "Norim! Lend a hand!" Gordon calls. The gnome lunges with his spear at the injured bird, but it swoops under and around the haft. Gordon connects with nothing but air. Norim adjusts his stance to get better footing. Then he swings his mighty weapon again, this time putting more strength behind the blow. Unfortunately, his aim is no better than Gordon's. Xenon hangs back, ready to strike should a target present itself. Just before the clothyard shaft whistles across the courtyard from the top of the wall to the east of the gate. The arrow misses the bird, glancing off the rough stone of the courtyard ground. Gordon spots the stranger before the others do. "Fall back!" he says in an urgent but hushed voice. "Razor crows seldom pursue!" The stranger appears human. He is already pulling another arrow from his quiver. His other hand grips a longbow. He wears leather armor and the furs of several animals. A broad-brimmed leather hat sits on his head, and his grizzled gray hair sticks out uncombed and wild. [sblock=Combat Box] Initiative Order: birds, Dacen, Gordon, Norim, Xenon Dacen: 10 nonlethal; KOd Gordon: 2 nonlethal Norim: 8 nonlethal Xenon: 7 nonlethal Birds (3): 1 dead, 1 disabled, 1 injured.
