The adventurers had survived a pair of battles with the cult and searched about for Lady Andaisin.</p><p></p><p>They found an alchemical laboratory that held a few useful potions. They also found what may have been Lady Andaisin's secret bedroom. Inside they found a alchemy books and a strange crystal ball which seemed to be a kind of map depicting crystal spheres floating in the phlogiston.</p><p></p><p>They entered a western chamber, and found a lone plaguebringer cleaning four 8-foot-tall glass tubes. Each was filled with liquid and contained a half-formed leukodaemon. </p><p></p><p>Scarlet immediately approached and grabbed the plaguebringer, who did not resist.</p><p></p><p>The plaguebringer said, "You fools! Unhand me. I am merely cleaning the glass."</p><p></p><p>Scarlet said, "Uhhh... no." Then she nodded toward one of the half-formed leukodaemons and asked, "How do we make these die?".</p><p></p><p>The plaguebringer scoffed. "You can't kill them!".</p><p></p><p>"Why not? We killed a bunch of them before."</p><p></p><p>"Urgathoa has imbued them with great power!".</p><p></p><p>Hartaniel grabbed him by the back of the neck and brought him to the previous room with the vats. Hartaniel pressed his face close to the liquid of one, so that the plaguebringer could get a look at one of the leukodaemons that the heroes had tossed in there moments before.</p><p></p><p>The plaguebringer screamed. "All right! I get it! I'll just go.... I'll just be on my way now..."</p><p></p><p>Scarlet said, "No, I don't think so."</p><p></p><p>Ardra asked the plaguebringer, "Why don't you tell us about the next room, and the temple itself?"</p><p></p><p>The plaguebringer talked about the room past the leukodemons in glass. "That is the great chamber of Lady Andaisin."</p><p></p><p>Ardra asked, "What's so great about it?"</p><p></p><p>"It is where Urgathoa sends her divine messages."</p><p></p><p>The heroes nodded, absorbing the information. The Blue Monk said, "Thanks."</p><p></p><p>The plaguebringer said, "Sure."</p><p></p><p>Ryltar noted, "You seem really compliant."</p><p></p><p>The plaguebringer shrugged. "I just know you're doomed, that's all."</p><p></p><p>They asked about the glass tubes with leukodaemons growing in them. The plaguebringer explained that they were gifts from Urgathoa. </p><p></p><p>They tied the plaguebringer to one of the tubes and continued on.</p><p></p><p>Through a set of stone double doors was a hallway which led to the main area of the temple. It was a circular room lined with small pools of various liquids like blood, milk and bile. In the middle of the room was a giant gold statue of Urgathoa surrounded by a pool of water. Spectral images swirled in the pool.</p><p></p><p>Lady Andaisin was here, waiting, along with five leukodaemons. She gripped her magic scythe tightly and addressed the intruders:</p><p></p><p>"And so you have found your way to me, hopeful heroes. Know that you stand before the architect of your city’s death. You call this sending blood veil, yet I know it as the gentle kiss of the Pallid Princess. Your reward shall be great — choose of the seven scourges to become one with the primordial. Those who drink, I shall only cripple, leaving you alive to enjoy her as she quickens inside your flesh. Those who abstain are fools, not fit to house the divine gift. You may prostrate yourselves at my feet and I shall make your end all the more swift for it. Swifter, in any event, than this delightful end your lovely queen has enjoined me to create!”</p><p></p><p>Ardra called out, "Why are you offering us this choice?"</p><p></p><p>Lady Andaisin said coldly, "Urgathoa would appreciate it."</p><p></p><p>Scarlet whispered, "I think she's scared of us."</p><p></p><p>Hartaniel asked Andaisin, "What happens if we say no?"</p><p></p><p>"Then you will suffer before you die."</p><p></p><p>Ryltar had a counter-offer. "How about we kill you and finish off your cult once and for all?"</p><p></p><p>Scarlet drank a potion of invisibility, made her way past the leukodaemons and closed in on Lady Andaisin. The leukodaemons fired off plague-cloud arrows at the other adventurers. </p><p></p><p>Ryltar rushed the closest one and cut a bloody wound into one with his scythe. He swung again, and cut off its' head. </p><p></p><p>Hartaniel teleported near the avenger and slashed into another daemon. The Monk staggered it with a thunderous punch and drank a potion of his own. </p><p></p><p>Scarlet had neared Andaisin, but the villain had a leukodaemon on either side of her. Scarlet could not get to Andaisin without stepping in the fountain. She did not want to step in the fountain, as she sensed it was trapped.</p><p></p><p>Scarlet plunged her broken blade into one of her leukodaemon guards and threw it into a nearby wall, causing herself to become visible. </p><p></p><p>The daemon slashed into her with its' claws while the other fired arrows at her. Lady Andaisin calmly coordinated their attack, holding her scythe as if it were a simple staff. The blade on the end gleamed - it was exceptionally sharp.</p><p></p><p>A small fly made of force crawled out of a daemon's empty eye socket and hurled itself into Scarlet. It knocked her back toward the pool around the statue. Scarlet braced her heel against the lip of the pool, stopping herself from falling in.</p><p></p><p>Back on the other side of the room, a leukodaemon breathed a cloud of flies on the heroes. Ryltar uttered a prayer to the Raven Queen and phased through a leukodaemon. He became tangible once more and sliced into a daemon.</p><p></p><p>Aurora fired off volleys of arrows, killing one of the two daemons guarding Andaisin. Ardra teleported to the center of the room an killed another. The bladesinger paused as the daemon's soul was sucked into one of the gems of her helm of seven deaths.</p><p></p><p>The Blue Monk delivered a series of blows, killing a leukodaemon. This cleared a path to Lady Andaisin and her two daemon guardians.</p><p></p><p>Hartaniel charged past them and stabbed Lady Andaisin in the shoulder. Black blood leaked from the wound. Her cold eyes went wide, and she gripped her scythe tightly.</p><p></p><p>Ardra maneuvered close and slashed the throat of the last leukodaemon, killing it. The heroes surrounded Andaisin, who began to slice her scythe at them in deadly arcs. </p><p></p><p>She spoke the name of Urgathoa and teleported out of their midst. The Blue Monk chased her down, but she sliced a long wound across his chest. Blood streamed down. She turned and swung her scythe at Aurora. Aurora dodged and jumped back. Then she lunged forward and plunged her unicorn horn into Andaisin's chest. Multi-colored rainbow light spilled from the wound as Andaisin gasped. She fell to the ground, dead.</p><p></p><p>The heroes had won! Or had they? Before they could even patch up their wounds, the eyes of the statue of Urgathoa began to glow. </p><p></p><p>Lady Andaisin's body crackled with unholy power and was lifted into the air. Her sundered flesh exploded with boils and pustules, while torrents of Urgathoa’s foul humors flooded forth and congealed into a sickening new body for the unliving saint. </p><p></p><p>Andaisin was covered in hard grey skin, and two chitinous horns sprouted from her head. Her scythe had become attached to her arm, and her legs were replaced by a long snake-like tail. Her black hair whipped in the air as she hovered 20 feet up and glared down at the heroes.</p><p></p><p>Andaisin was instantly reborn as a Daughter of Urgathoa, bent on revenge!</p><p></p><p>Andaisin fired green energy beams from her eyes, striking Varis and Aurora. Both of their skin became grey-green and smoke spewed from their mouths. They fell to the ground, dying!</p><p></p><p>The heroes spread out and fired crossbow bolts and arrows at her, trying to figure out a way to lure her down to melee range. The Blue Monk blew his guardian whistle, which teleported Aurora close to him. He knelt down and poured a potion in her throat, reviving the ivory-skinned beauty.</p><p></p><p>Andaisin fired eye beams at Ryltar and Scarlet, sickening and staggering them. </p><p></p><p>Varis staggered to his feet, stood on the burning image of the card of the deck of many things, and healed himself.</p><p></p><p>Hartaniel attached a rope to one of his crossbow bolts. Then he took aim at Andaisin and fired. The bolt suck deep into her torso. He tied the end of the rope around his waist and called out to The Blue Monk. The Blue Monk ran over and together they pulled on the rope. They were able to reel Andaisin down almost all the way to the floor!</p><p></p><p>Andaisin raised her scythe-arm, her eyes dark. Hartaniel tried to jump out of the arc of the blade, but he was hit! Her blade cut clean through his ankle and severed his foot! Hartaniel shouted in pain and fell to the ground, quickly trying to wrap up the stump as his allies closed in to get her attention. He tried to pull on the rope and swing Andaisin into a wall, but was unable to move her.</p><p></p><p>Ardra stabbed her as The Blue Monk grabbed the rope that was still attached to her. He swung it, and her, in a 180 degree arc, sending her crashing into a stone wall. </p><p></p><p>Hartaniel hung his head in shame, seeing that the Blue Monk did what the elf could not. Hartaniel vowed to himself to somehow make up for this failure.</p><p></p><p>Andaisin swung her deadly scythe at The Blue Monk, but the monk ducked it.</p><p></p><p>Ryltar slashed her. She turned to him and breathed a swarm of flies at him! The flies left tiny little cuts all over his body.</p><p></p><p>Scarlet was staggered by the flies as well. The battles had taken their toll on her. Scarlet could almost feel death's clammy grip on her shoulder (<em>She was down to one hit point and had no surges left!</em>). The flies swirling around her, feeling like little blades cutting her again and again. Scarlet collapsed, dying.</p><p></p><p>Hartaniel tossed one of the potent healing potions he'd found in the alchemical lab. Blue Monk caught it and administered it to Scarlet (<em>this was a potion of cure critical, which doesn't require you to spend a surge if you are bloodied</em>). Scarlet came to, and the flies thankfully dissipated.</p><p></p><p>Andaisin remained low, hovering just a few feet off the ground. She seemed determined to cut each and every one of their heads off. She faced Ryltar and swung. Ryltar jumped to the side, but was caught in the sweeping arc. Blood sprayed as she cut off his foot, as she had done to Hartaniel moments earlier!</p><p></p><p>He fell to the ground, gritted his teeth and began swiftly tying off the stump. The blood leaked out in dramatic and hideous fashion. The drow fell unconscious.</p><p></p><p>Andaisin was close to death. One well-placed shot would finish her. Hartaniel felt that killing her would redeem his perceived failure from earlier in the fight. He swung his blade down at her - and she blocked it with her scythe. Hartaniel fumed as her struggled to get back into position.</p><p></p><p>Ardra used one of the powers of her helm to search for weak points on Andaisin's body (<em>actually, she was using the power to check how many hit points she had left</em>). </p><p></p><p>Ardra called out to the Monk, who focused on the weak points, as well as her wounds. Then he stepped forward, and struck her in each point with his Five Strikes of Azure Elimination, as taught to him by Elder Teal. </p><p></p><p>Hartaniel was shocked and wounded that again, The Blue Monk had done what he could not...</p><p></p><p>Andaisin's body seized up, and exploded in a burst of gas and flies! The heroes fell back, hurt, but alive. The gas and flies dissipated. Andaisin's scythe laid on the ground, along with the gear she wore in life.</p><p></p><p>At last the cult was defeated! But the war against the drow was not over. Battle still raged in the city of Dunnwynn. And what of the red mantis assassins and the card from the deck of many things? The flies swirling around her, feeling like little blades cutting her again and again. Scarlet collapsed, dying. Hartaniel tossed one of the potent healing potions he'd found in the alchemical lab. Blue Monk caught it and administered it to Scarlet ([I]this was a potion of cure critical, which doesn't require you to spend a surge if you are bloodied[/I]). Scarlet came to, and the flies thankfully dissipated. Andaisin remained low, hovering just a few feet off the ground. She seemed determined to cut each and every one of their heads off. She faced Ryltar and swung. Ryltar jumped to the side, but was caught in the sweeping arc. Blood sprayed as she cut off his foot, as she had done to Hartaniel moments earlier! He fell to the ground, gritted his teeth and began swiftly tying off the stump. The blood leaked out in dramatic and hideous fashion. The drow fell unconscious. Andaisin was close to death. One well-placed shot would finish her. Hartaniel felt that killing her would redeem his perceived failure from earlier in the fight. He swung his blade down at her - and she blocked it with her scythe. Hartaniel fumed as her struggled to get back into position. Ardra used one of the powers of her helm to search for weak points on Andaisin's body ([I]actually, she was using the power to check how many hit points she had left[/I]). Ardra called out to the Monk, who focused on the weak points, as well as her wounds. Then he stepped forward, and struck her in each point with his Five Strikes of Azure Elimination, as taught to him by Elder Teal. Hartaniel was shocked and wounded that again, The Blue Monk had done what he could not... Andaisin's body seized up, and exploded in a burst of gas and flies! The heroes fell back, hurt, but alive. The gas and flies dissipated. Andaisin's scythe laid on the ground, along with the gear she wore in life. At last the cult was defeated! But the war against the drow was not over. Battle still raged in the city of Dunnwynn. And what of the red mantis assassins and the card from the deck of many things? There was still work to be done... [/QUOTE]
