Some say he took the moniker in memory of a parrot that saved his life.</p><p></p><p>The story, according to the old swashbuckler, goes that he lost his eye in a fight with a dryad’s charmed servant who would have killed Polly had not his first officer, said to be a parrot, intervened.</p><p></p><p>Polly cares little for his past; his focus is the here-and-now.
