As Minharath Gloom and Martelai begin asking their questions, Elder Broda sits back down in his chair and motions for everyone else to have a seat as well. "Please sit and I will explain the situation. It began roughly a month ago, when we noticed that the lizard folk had started hunting closer towards our lands than they have ever before. Nothing came of it at first, excpet for many more sightings of the lizardfolk, who are normally quite reclusive and stay in the marshlands except for coming to the village to trade every few months. A few weeks ago they were spotted even closer and stumbled across a few of the outlaying farmsteads. The game they were pursuing fled into a heard of our sheep and in the end some livestock was lost. A skirmish broke out between the hunters and the herders and blows were exchanged. Luckily no one was killed, but now there is great tension amongst a great number of our people and the lizard folk." He pauses and takes a drink of water before continuing. "It was decided that we should send a group of representatives from the village to go speak with the lizardfolk chief and Thom Ogglebottom was amongst those who went. That was well over a week ago and they have not yet returned. It is a journey that should not take more that a couple of days return." Elder Broda sits back in his chair and lets out a sigh, clearly troubled over the events he just described. The very old Halfling, Elder Timko, then leans forward. "In all my years there has never been any bloodshed between our two people. Tension, sure, but for the most part we each kept to our own business, us here in town and them out there in the swamps. We don't know all too much about them cause they like to keep to themselves. They are very set in their ways though and never really took to much liking to a lot of the luxuries we tried trading with them. They mostly go for the tools and the utility type of goods ya know." The third elder, Elder Imlach cuts in before Elder Timko can continue. "Yes, it is true, we do not know much of their way, but they live in a different world than we do." she seems to say as much to the other elders as she does to the group. "The marsh is a dangerous place that we do not enter without cause. The place is filled with a thick fog most of the time and although by sea the distance between the two main landmasses is not great, it is entirely different there. "Thom and his men are overdue and it is a concern on our part, not because of the 'boogy-creatures' that live in the swamp.." he give a side look towards elder Imlach "..but because of the implications it may carry with the lizard folk." Through all of this Leonard has sat quite but has glanced over at each of you many times, the look in his eye obvious as to what he hopes each of you are going to say.
