The fog thickens, and though the sea is calm, and the storm has ended, Fargo's expression seems more ill-at-ease that it was during the wind and the rain, "Harthok!" he calls to a fat dwarf at the bow, "Soundin's! They appear briefly and fade out, never returning in the same place. You've count at least 4 that appear at the same time[/sblock]Harthok begins to call out numbers, "Mahr'n Tharty six!" and half a minute later, "Tharty-two!", half a minute later, "Twanty-fahve!", another thirty seconds... "Fifteen!" Fargo calls out to to the pilot, almost at a panic, "Hard Part!" The Gale begins to list to the right as the bow moves to the left. The forward movement of the craft causes it to drift sideways along its original heading until the friction of the water finally overcomes the ships immense momentum. She comes to a near stop, "Jag th'far'ard sails!" Fargo shouts to another pair of dwarfs on the forward mast. Three sails drop and inflate, pulling The Gale forward just enough to get her moving. The bearded pair standing atop the main sail boom immediately begin pulling on rigging to re-furl the sail so as to keep the ship moving slowly. Harthok's soundings had started out with a droning tone, but now his voice is panicked, "Nine Fathom sahr! She's twain off th' keel!" "Maktor! Gimton! Fargo shouts up to the two on the boom and then turns to six hefty dwarves standing by the capstans, "Drop'ankar!" The six set to work at a frantic pace, removing the capstan bars and swinging with mallets to pound huge dog pegs loose from their mounting holes. As the dog pegs fall to the deck, the capstan spins freely, gaining in speed until four thunderous splashes are heard from either side of the fore and aft sections of The Gale. The sound of grinding chains pierces even covered ears as she scrapes to a halt in the water. Suddenly, the dwarf on the starboard side of the mainsail boom howls as if in pain, falls to the rigging below and bounces overboard into the water.[sblock=Perception 20]You happened to be looking up at Maktor when he fell. Without waiting, he shouts down the rail to another dwarf who's straining his eyes through the fog over the starboard side of the ship, "You thar!
