While the chair does look like something from a torture dungeon or a nightmarish insane asylum, it does a good job of restraining Toeto. With the way she's thrashing about and biting, you doubt that you would be able to control her any better for long periods of time. Dieter's tired face brightens up a little as Beatrice speaks. "My dear, if you're serious - no, of course you are." He chuckles. "I've been struggling to get any help at all from the garrison troops, and then you and your company of warriors show up unprompted and intent on finding the cure! Maros must have arranged this meeting, indeed." "About the vector, I do have an idea on that. You see, the madness popped up in our city seemingly overnight. I can't imagine any infectious disease spreading so quickly! I believe the plague to be caused by some sort of contaminant - something that many people would be exposed to at once. The toxin would also have to be found naturally in the swamp, which eliminates most of our imported food from concern. I also doubt it is airborne, or else all of Cay Harbor would have been exposed." Dieter raises one fist as he announces his final deduction. "Therefore, I see only thing responsible: tainted well water. The people in the poor quarter drink from their own wells, and more often from them than the higher classes. I imagine the swampwater the lizardfolk drink from became similarly contaminated." Dieter lowers his arm and continues, "I never considered an expedition to the swamps - I was so focused on Cay Harbor's own troubles. The lizards have been sick for months, so I imagine you'll find it easier to travel there than usual. There will be, er, less of them" he adds rather darkly. "If you were to gather water from wells in the poor quarter, you wouldn't have to travel nearly as far.
