[QUOTE="StreamOfTheSky, post: 5738949, member: 35909"] For what it's worth, I agree with you on a lot. I liked 3E Polymorph rules where you actually turned INTO that creature and the PF rules are pretty bland and homogenized. I also agree it's bs how much the cleric got buffed while the druid was getting smashed in the face with the nerf bat -- the example you made of cleric being able to get a full animal companion AND a second domain being a great example. I really don't know why Paizo thought clerics and wizards needed massive power boosts, but the fact remains...druid is still better than all the non-casters by a lot. He's just also blatantly inferior to the other full casters. But because he's still better than 80% of the other classes, no one's going to have much sympathy for "lost glory." I don't know why you think Menhir Savants are "god," nothing they get helps them win a fight or the game, and it's mostly defensive. It is good stuff though, you lose a bunch of worthless crap for it, and it's really cool. But all of it is good. 1st level, you can at will detect like 15-20% of everything in the Bestiary (probably less than that...but the stuff you can detect is most of the creature types you would most likely need more than the naked eye to notice, so meh) 2nd level, you get to boost CL by 1 a whole lot of times/day as a free (not swift!) action! 9th level, you get to give the party more teleportation than they should ever need, and you use plantlife to do it, which should warm your druid heart :) 13th level...I actually don't like it. I like my druids to be kinky sex fiends, and always enjoyed the idea of A Thousand Faces being amazing to keep the spark going in a monogamous relationship. I wish this swap didn't exist or came later in exchange for Timeless Body (which IME does nothing 95% of the time and feels like you're cheating the other 5%). Aaaaanyway, Ethereal Jaunt seems to restrict you from attacking at all while ethereal, and the duration is too short for much scouting, so I don't think this is such a big deal, other than making monks cry for having to wait another 6 levels longer than you for it... Earth elemental gives you push (no idea how far, it's poorly written, my DM just decided to make it = to the elemental's natural reach). And...combat maneuvers are near impossible to pull off at higher levels anyway, so losing some special mneuvers from animals is a small loss, IMO. Buff spells: I can't find a definitive ruling or text, but I'm pretty sure PF polymorph effects don't change your creature type. Like many things in PF, though, the polymorph text is extremely poorly written and I couldn't come away with a definitive ruling either way just from reading it. Predators eating prey is a part of the natural cycle. Druids are ok with this unless you choose to RP yours differently. How do they survive winter? Even on present day earth, not everywhere HAS a winter. Who knows what a fantasy world's climate is like? When it comes to protecting your own dino pet, Endure Elements is a 1st level spell that lasts 24 hours, even from a cheap wand. Not hard. :) And not all dinosaurs are huge or bigger.
