They wanted to encourage playing through the full class and also had an issue with PrC because they required a player to slog through X levels of random prereqs to get to the character they actually wanted.</p><p></p><p>My guess is that Archaeologist is their way of turning a PrC they like into an archetype to fit that philosophy.
