Apocolypto

Have you seen Apocolyto

Does anyone have a review of this movie?

The hype here is calling it a non-stop action movie set in the Mayan empire

Does it inspire you to want to play Maztica D20?

(Bonus question: How does it compare to the abysmal Rapanui?)

It's good.

For real reviews check out Rotten Tomatoes.

I wouldn't say non-stop, but ti can be pretty heavy at times.

No, but then I'm not the type to become overcome with the desire to play a particular type of game after watching or reading something.

However, I suspect if you are the type that you will get the urge.

(Bonus question: How does it compare to the abysmal Rapanui?)

Can't tell you, never saw it.

1. Yes.

2. Check Rotten Tomatoes.

3. I'd say non-stop is a big exaggeration, but it does have a lot of action, especially in the last third of the movie.

4. Not quite, but I did end up stealing some of the visuals to use for descriptions of weapons, fetishes and jewelry for lizardman raiders in my campaign...

5. There's really not much the two movies have in common. Apocalypto basically deals with one man trying to survive and save his family - everything else is background, whereas in Rapanui, you have a whole complicated story of religion, love, envy, class conflict, etc. front and center. Apocalypto is also vastly quicker paced and has a lot more action.
