I think you're getting a lot of the answers you expected, and they're great answers, but I'd probably go vhuman sword and board(dueling) with the Heavy Armor Mastery feat at level 1, then pump Str +2 at level 4 and the +2 to Char at level 8. You would start with 16str, 14con, and 16char, and have Str and Char to 18 by level 8. Your party will appreciate your bonus +4 to all saves after level 6. You only have to be conscious for it to be on so your 20 AC and damage reduction will come a long way to keep you standing. Your entire party will be better with this character in the group. You'll still always be great at damage with your smites. I would not be happy with only having a 14 in char no matter what. If you're really all about offense, I'd take the Defense Fighting style, PAM at lvl 1 and then pump Str and Char at levels 4 and 8. I don't care for the GWF style, and I do prefer PAM to GWM on Pally's since you can smite more often if you need to.
