Surprise round Having spotted the goblin skulking underneath the canvas-covered wagon in the church square, Rainier snarls at the interruption of most sacred of events. He draws his greatsword, worn as a sign of respect for his grandfather as much as security with all these barbarians in town today, with a ringing hiss and charges toward the creature, intent on severing its head from its shoulders. The goblin, a look of distracted excitement on its face, exits from beneath the wagon and clambers atop Ameiko Kaijitsu's buffet table. The creature's appearance elicits a scream of terror from a woman being handed a tankard of ale by one of the Rusty Dragon's serving girls. As the goblin fixates on a platter of cold salmon and feistily begins stuffing its face with the smoked delicacy, Rainier stalks up from head on and, with one masterful blow, lops the goblin's head off its gnarled shoulders. Rainier's blow with the greatsword is good for 8 points of damage. Bits of smoked salmon fly out of the goblin's surprised open mouth as its cleanly severed head bounces off the wooden buffet table and rolls to a stop in the square. "G-g-g-go-go--!" Ravi stammers, but he cannot seem to get the word out. Still trying to force the word past his lips, the priest fumbles for the crossbow stored in his backpack, which he has kept loaded in case he needs to use it quickly to defend himself or others--now, for instance. Tearing the weapon out of the pack, from beneath a half-dozen books, Ravi clutches the crossbow with shaking hands. Goblin... goblins... in Sandpoint! Oh, gods, why today!? Ravi returns from fetching his crossbow in time to see Rainier Scarnetti lop the head off a goblin on top of Ameiko's buffet table. [sblock=Die rolls]Rainier, greatsword AC 19, 2d6+2 dmg (rolls = 16, 2, 4)[/sblock]
