I voted for the 2-4 year, thought the longest one lasted nearly 5 or right at 5. We took a short break and went back to it so i am not positive on how long it was. Not that it matters but that was not a DnD game, I think the longest DnD game was 1 year for my group. As for your other questions. It varies from game system. DnD i would say 6 months is avg, for White Wolf World of Darkness games in the 90's the avg was 18 months. Most other game systems the avg was about 1 year. The longest just as a FYI was a SpaceMaster game.(scifi version of Rolemaster for those that don't know and was curious) Nope, as for why. Well we are not sure we are going to switch to 4e, right now leaning towards no unless when the books come out they really blow us away on how good they are. That and even IF we switch to 4e it will happen later, likely after our current and next games are finished so likely that would be 09 or 10 at soonest.
