Whew. Had a little trouble with the story, but I wanted to get that out. I don't really like how the writing turned out, but the general story (Chaka is chasing after a lost ship that held a man with a loa inside and he's famous for the horrible 'pranks' he pulled on the Cahrming Mary) is good. NOt sure how thi sowuld fit in with everybody else's timeline, seems like Chaka might be a newer addition to the crew then everybody else. I forgot to mention it, but Chaka adopted Keb, his familiar, while he was on board with the other PCs. keb is percieved as being another lucky charm. Chaka adopted him after seeing him throwing fesces at slavers from a tall tree in a market. Chaka laughed Ghede's laughter as the slavers got the jokes they deserved, and decided to take Keb with him. I leave the eventual fate of Hofon (and Dan Petro) and the possible continued use of the bird-necklace in Dm territory. For all Chaka knows, Dan Petro may be free, but with the mercurial nature of the Loa Chaka is still in the dark. He serves the interests of the loa (great spirits) in general, but Dan Petro (freedom), Ghede (the laughing death, prankster and guardian of children), and Agwe (the eternal sea) in particular. As far as special gear Chaka might carry, he may be able to make up some of the party's lack of healing, since Ghede is somewhat associated with healing. Ghede digs the graves of the dead, so if he can be convinced to stop digging the person is healed and death is put off. Any magic item that 'puts sand back in the grave' would fit well. Other then that, the bird necklace may have other functions. As for appearences, Chaka is about waist tall to a human, with dark, almost red skin. His flesh is vaguely reminiscent of rich, very dark clay in color. He always wears white facepaint, with each mark representing some incomprehensible magical meaning or some promise to the loa. To cast spells he often erases, alters, or adds to the markings on his face, arms and chest. He wears non-descript pants like those that are given to slaves, as a symbol of the slavery he fights and a reminder of those he must free. He is usually either bare chested or wearing a loose vest of bright colors and patterns. He carries no weapons, and rarely wears shoes, prefering sandles if his feet need to be covered. He has short curly hair. Keb is usually perched on his shoulder. More details as I think of them.
